It's funny that Chao's got brought up, because the Chao Garden is one of the few things people still legitimately like from the Adventure games and that shit never got brought back :lol

The only reason I ever go back to replay those games is for the Chao breeding/racing etc. Such a cool part of the game, especially in Adventure 2 where you could unlock the special Dark/light Chao gardens. I will never forget when my first Chao “feeties” died. I turned the game off so it wouldn’t save and refused to go back into the garden so he would never meet his eventual fate.  :lol

Cyberpunk could still show.

The guy specifically said "you guys" and asked for gameplay.
That doesn't rule out that "someone else" might show something (not necessarily gameplay)

That's all kinds of bs :|

But 20% off was usually about $10 (closer to $13 but whatever on $3). If they start actually carrying pre-orders again (fu spiderman) with $10 credit I'm fine with that, but we shall see.

The biggest problem that I see coming from this is that the credit you get comes 30 days later, lasts for a set amount of time, and will only apply to "select games."  You can, however, use the credit towards other items besides games.

You just reminded me that I have no idea what's up with Spider-Man- I have a pre-order at Amazon but it still comes up as them not knowing the release date.

I’m really going to miss the 20% off programs.

I bought A LOT of games I wouldn’t have because of them. There was a golden age of gpu when Best Buy still did trade-in deals and had competitive trade prices where you could buy a game new with a $10 coupon beat the fuck out of it in two weeks, trade it in and make like $5 in credit out of the process.

I will buy a lot fewer games Day one for sure.

If this is true, I’m selling off my PS4 stuff and buying a damn X. With Yakuza going to PC, I have no reason to be locked into PlayStation.

If you substract the cost of Live and GamePass that leaves 20 bucks a month for the X. Over 2 years that accumulates to $480.
That looks like a pretty shitty deal for being locked into a contract for 2 years.

You get to keep the console after 2 years, which makes it a somewhat better deal.

duckroll was telling me about Left Alive, the Front Mission TPS shooter coming out with Shinkawa art. We started talking and instead of this dumb shooter shit, the perfect merging of old school Front Mission in modern days when SRPGs are dead would be to make a Front Mission that plays like Valkyria Chronicles. Turn-based but real-time movement TPS with mecha & on-foot. That would be so good! They need to do this.

There was a remaster back in 2004, but I believe that this remaster goes all the way back to the original versions and doesn't take anything from the 2004 version.

it's not a well known game. used the doom engine but didn't come out til 96. it was more of an adventure or rpg like game, with a town, lots of npcs, etc. was fun but also very rough.

It's modern-day Square-Enix, so it'll come out in another 5-6 years and either be complete garbage or surprisingly good.

A joke now more than ever, since Capcom managed to make RE2make with equal quality to SE's goals within 3 years, alongside a semi-rebooted mainline game. SE can't even get an episode 1 done. Not like it matters too much. The cool thing about FF7 was that the Nomura shlock was still somewhat restrained and despite the cyberpunk it still felt cartoony and adventurous. Everything after went way too hard into JPOP emo crap like Crisis Core.

Hacking peoples, need some help (I think demi will know the answer). I had my friend over yesterday to help me hack my SNES mini. We got the Hackchi2, hooked up the mini by USB did the hold reset/power on, the installed the driver, installed the Kernel and it shows as online green dot on Hackchi2 program.

Everything good so far.

I move over some roms that I know work because I test them on a pc emu and they run fine. US roms. Synchronize them and it works.

I unplug the Snes Mini from the PC, hook it up to the TV and turn it on. Hackchi screen shows, then I go to "other games" folder and the games I added are there. But when I press start on any of the games it goes to a black screen and then comes back to the game list menu. Same thing happens on every game. Original games all work fine.

Also whenever I re-plug the SNES mini to my PC via usb, it always shows a red dot offline on the Hackchi2 program and I have to repair/install it every time I hook it back up for my PC to recognize it again. I wonder if this has something to do with whatever is going on. We tried googling but couldn't figure out what is going wrong. Any ideas?

*edit* nm, fixed the problem. The files were missing their .sfc or .smc extensions which was jacking it all up. Renaming with the right extension and re-adding fixed them.

The issue with FF7 is that you either need to stay close to the source material. So the 'jank'  of early CG, the limited animations and movement and overall setbacks that it had from being the first Final Fantasy of the '3D' era.
Or you need to completely overhaul the game to modern standards and simply re-use the script and key moments.

Basically the choice is between doing a Ocarina of Time 3D remake or a Fire Emblem: Echoes or Resident Evil 2 like re-imagining of the whole thing.
After such a long time in development they can't really go with the first option anymore.

For RE2 Capcom could just use the new gameplay systems they build for RE4/5/6 because all people remember about RE2 is really Claire/Leon and exploring the city and the gameplay of RE2 is not a defining thing.
With FF7 I don't see how you can make it into something like FFXV without losing the essence of FF7.

Nintendo's Let's Go Pokemon games kinda face the same challenge. It's in its core a remake of Pokemon Yellow and no matter how many gimmicks and motion controls they bolt onto it it won't ever be more than that.
And Pokemon Yellow itself was basically a hack ROM of Pokemon Red and Blue that allowed Pikachu to walk with you but broke half the balance of the game.

I dunno. FFVII was all about the aesthetic and the world more than gameplay. Thing is though, since then we've had bigger worlds that are just as imagintaive. FFVII stood out because no one had seen anything like it and for many it was their intro to exploring an RPG world. How that holds up in 2018 when people grew up with RPGs and Skyrim, Witcher 3, Mass Effect, Deux Ex and other worlds , I don't know. I'll buy it (if it ever comes out) just for the chance to see Midgar again, but I don't lie it's my nostalgia, not my common sense making that decision.
