I straight remember this pic from some magazine.  GameFan, I wanna say.
It was produced by EGM, but a number of their related magazines used this worst concept art ever drawn for the MegaCD/SegaCD for like a year before actual pictures came out even though it looks like the right side is melting and none of the dimensions make any sense. :lol

I posted one of the large versions of it before and it only makes it look worse.

I imagine some foreign non-English magazines probably stole it too, this was the era where a lot of their content was often doing that and the American magazines actually seemed to see it as flattery.

Danyon's 3DO score does jump out. Everything else looks ok, I think 32X is a bit high.

likely toward end of genesis life, when it was a wasteland, 32X was bigger focus in that dark time before saturn launch.

They also gave the Sega CD a 8/9/9/9 like four months before it actually came out because CD'S PACKED FULL OF FMVS WILL REVOLUTIONIZE GAMING. The only games they had actually reviewed were Sewer Shark (7/9/6/6) and Night Trap (5/8/6/5) and the reviews complained about how bad the FMV was and how they were barely games. :lol

Well, unlike the Sega CD, the Sega 32X really pumps up the Genesis sounds and graphics levels. The first few releases are a real eye catchers and sure to make a big splash.

From looking at many of these publications, Street Fighter II essentially created video game magazines as we probably think of them. The production values skyrocket, as do the number of staff, page counts surge into orbit, also sentences that just stop suddenly start disappearing meaning someone actually was editing them being

I'm one of the saps that bought the 32X on release.  Star Wars Arcade and Doom were actually "wow" games and some of the later releases like Virtua Fighter and Racing were really great for the time.  It also made the FMV CD games a lot better.  The video was a clearer and the window was bigger.  I liked Corpse Killer and Supreme Warrior quite a bit.  Slam City with Scottie Pippen not so much.

Another EVE event story: The Year-Long, Undercover Plot To Blow Up EVE Online's Most Notorious Space Station
Quote
In theory, anything can happen in EVE Online, but some things are considered impossible. Well, last month, one of the “impossible” things happened: The destruction of the game’s first-ever Keepstar battlestation, which was kept in a wormhole. Of course, it took 11 months of meticulous planning.

Ever since the massive Keepstars, the largest structures that can be created by EVE players, were put into the game in 2016, they have lost the sense of perceived invulnerability that they once enjoyed. Over the two years, more than 30 of the extremely expensive structures have been destroyed. But the first-ever Keepstar endured, thanks to its location: Deep in the heart of a wormhole, the most inhospitable space that EVE Online has to offer.

My brother has that book. It has some interesting insight.

Amy Henigs Uncharted 4 shenigans are an amazing read.
Why Sony didn't can her earlier boggles the mind. Even more crazy that EA put her in charge of another project as they must've been aware of that mess.

The 32X definitely had some really good games and YES STRO THAT DOES INCLUDE SPACE HARRIER and Afterburner.
:bolo

Virtua Fighter was a good port and more 'stable' than the first Saturn version, but it took too damn long to come out.  The Saturn was already been out in 'Murica for a few months by the time it finally released.

While it was originally reported that Crackdown 3 would feature four-player co-op support in its single-player campaign, this has been revised. The game will now support two-player co-op. The reason for this, we were told by Microsoft, is that the fantasy of Crackdown is to feel like you are ‘the most powerful person in the world’ and that the more players it pumped into the experience the more diluted that power fantasy became. Instead, the co-op count has been reduced to two and the game has been heavily optimised with that in mind.

Watching some of those 32x videos... that thing really is not that much better than an SNES except on the 3D games... which at the time there weren’t really that many of.

It’s just hard to see the value for the time. Especially because $150 was lot of money in 1995 or whenever it released.
