I only recently watched the 'Inside Xbox' game reveal. Really underwhelming, but not at all surprising really. Obviously the coronavirus hasn't helped, but also the games shown for the most part looked like what they probably are, multiplatform releases. It won't be for while I think that we see something truly next-gen. Something built entirely from the ground up for the next-gen consoles.

And unlike the previous gen, this should be a huge leap forward. And I don't think last-gen graphics were all that bad, when all was said and done. The hardware is way more cutting edge this time around though. So at some point they should really impress in terms of graphics.

I forget the EXACT reasons /m/ hates it, but it had to do with how piss-poor the launch was (buggy, unfinished, etc). I dunno if the developers ever fixed half the issues /m/ had with it, but I just know everytime MW5 is brought up, the general response is "NOPE. Go replay MW1-4 and forget 5 exists, keep your happy memories."

owning is overrated these days.

also after a couple hours with the game it seems...well it's very attractive and it has the right "feel". the mechs control well and the combat feels satisfying. but the ai is pretty braindead on both sides and i've had to restart missions a few times when the game just breaks or stops working. still worth $0 but if i had to restart 1-2x an hour for like 8-10 hours i'd be annoyed.

Super Paper Mario was padding disguised as a postmodern deconstruction of padding. That whole postmodern shit was so overplayed in the mid 2000s. Especially with treehouse localizations and indie games.

Hot take: Super Paper Mario was very good. It just wasn't as good as TTYD and was a different genre, not to mention having to follow TTYD.

The Paper Mario games getting progressively shittier and dumber from then on made people dislike it way more than it deserves.

Sometimes I think about giving SPM another chance, because it was one of the last Mario games with unique worlds and characters until Odyssey. But then I remember the game's design

Super Paper Mario had cool mechanics that would've worked in a platforming game.
But it was a poor platforming game with lots of dialogue.

Would've worked better if they made it a real platform game or stuck to the RPG formula.
It might be one of Nintendo's worst games.

And almost everything that wasn't text was padding. "Puzzles" that had you write down endless codes. A couple of huge empty maps on which you hold right for several minutes and nothing happens. etc. Meanwhile, almost no smart usage of the 2D/3D mechanic.

Other M is the only Metroid game I’ve played. It was pretty fun as an action game. Don’t know or care about the Metroid story.

Good combat, bosses, good transition of old powerups into 3d for the first time, good gameplay speed Everything bad easily fixable, removing story parts and adding analogue. Unlike for example Super Paper Mario. Take out the bad parts like padding and there's literally no game left

Yoshi's Wooly World, dope as hell. That's why I was happy to jump into Yoshi's Crafty World. It's just not close to the quality of the previous one. I don't have my Wii U where I live so I can't test out if there are differences in the player speed, but it seemed to me that Yoshi moved too slow in Crafty World. Bu for all I know that's not the case and he moved the exact same speed. In that case of course the culprit would be level design.

To use another game for example. The Master Chief in Halo games doesn't move all that quickly. But it doesn't matter because for sections that need quicker movement or just going across a lot of land you have vehicles. And then for non-vehicle sections the maps are designed so that it doesn't feel like it's taking forever to get around. The maps are desined appropriately for the characters own player speed.

I had the same feeling in Wooly World. Yoshi moved at an appropriate speed and the levels were designed around that. Crafty World, there were too many times I felt like my speed wasn't as appropriate. Also holy fuck! As a music sensitive moron, give me a fucking break with some of the tunes in Crafty World.

Some people get the wrong idea that because something is family friendly that it has to sound dumbed down or "for kids". Nonsense. The fundamental idea behind the Crafty World soundtrack is what hinders the soundtrack. An issue that was not present in Wooly World because the OST was thought about in a different way.

Now here's the thing. I nearly 100%-ed Crafty World. There are some things that aren't of interest to me that would be required to get the actual full percentage. I don't play games for those reasons anyways. I'm more pointing out that I put quite a bit of time into the game. If I had to put a number rating to it I would say it's a 7/10. There are several sections where the level design or ideas are pretty damn cool. I would say that they aren't the majority though. And I had problems with the player speed as explained earlier. It's actually a totally fine game and I wasn't at any point thinking of not finishing the base "complete all levels with all flowers" the same way one completes DK in the "I must collect K O N G in every level" style.

I would not recommend the game at full price. It's above average and has its moments. Compared to Wooly World though it solidified that Crafty World was my disappointment of 2019. I would tell everyone deciding between those two games to go for Wooly World each time.

PS4 is the worst at handeling game instals and storage.

I bought an 8tb external for the PS4 and the task of moving everything unto it has been amazingly long. Since the PS4 only allows one external hdd at a time, I'd have to switch  the two HDD I had and then wait for the game list to populate. It got pretty annoying have to do that and also keeping things in order. So I bought a new one and well you just can't simply copy over things.

What you'd have to do since the PS4 can't read two externals at the same time, is copy stuff from your old external back to the internal hdd and then over to the new external. And if the game is like over 40 gigs one copy can take an hour. And I have 176 PS4 games. So moving them all over to the new new external would take forever if I did that.

And I haven't, but it's still taken forever.  I'm not sure if you could do a mix of copy and install. I'm not sure if will instal while moving games, though it will download while moving. Either way, it's just been easier to reinstall everything. Comcast dosen't have the download cap right now so thats fine. But the thing is beyond listening to the disc drive or loading up a late game save, it's mostly impossible to know if a game is fully installed. Which is annoying.

Compare this to the Xbox One, where you can have I think 4 external HDDS at the same time and easily just do a "select all" and copy over things between each other. Still can take a while, but Xbox also tells you when things are fully installed.

My PS4 2TB Seagate HDD died. I noticed games were constantly freezing. I put the stock drive back in and noticed that my PS4 Pro doesn’t get as hot anymore and the fan isn’t on a blowdryer level of noise anymore. When I removed the hard drive it was so hot I could barely touch it.

I opened my pro and changed the thermal paste, the fan and applied new thermo pads for memory.

It worked quite well for nearly a year, but it's back to being pretty loud. Not gonna bother to open it up again and just gonna wait for the PS5.

You don't have the right to complain about transfer speeds unless you have moved your Wii data to your Wii U.

Watching the Pikmin pick-up every 5kb save file and manually drop it into the Wii U storage was a level of system transfer fuckery beyond any reason and logic.
Especially because you can't pause the process, you can't stop the process once it starts and you just have to pray that your connection doesn't drop or your Wii or Wii U doesn't crash during it (as that would mean losing all your files).

Just look at it, and this guy had only a few saves and games.
It lasted from breakfast till dinner to transfer all the stuff I had on the eternal storage and 2 SD cards which was only possible with this dumb tool.
