As a big open world/Assassin's Creed guy, i was kind of let down by the Tsushima demo.
Graphics (and animations in particular) look alright to subpar, the cape flapping in the wind and some combat anbimations were the only impressive aspects.
The map looks small and as usual, packed with shit to the point where it loses any naturalistic feel (something AC Origins got right).
The "no waypoint" gimmick is cute, but in my opinion will end up being less immersive, not more, when every wildlife and decorative element is turned into a purely mechanical gameplay tool.
Combat looked like old AC games, so something most hated to hell, even though it at least
looks fancy, so i'm not too down on it.
Stealth looks basic.
I really liked the black & white filter though, sure you could've just adjusted your TV settings, but i wouldn't have bothered otherwise, now i'll probably play the game like that from the start (as i don't like their art direction in color).
Overall, much like Horizon it seems like an open world made by and for people who don't get what is so good about open worlds (this was true for Infamous as well).
And the sandbox aspect, which you could get from games like MGSV or FarCry, doesn't seem explored at all.
Overall i think that, beyond the setting, it'll end up being a very mediocre game, with production values that, from yesterday's video, aren't even all that impressive.
Why does everything look so flat and lifeless?
Whatever they did in post-processing, it looks fucking awful. The effects are straight up distracting.
Every highlight being bright white doesn't help, i'm not sure what they were coing for, but in B&W that's at least mitigated a bit.
