I don't know what they are thinking attacking the regulators like this

Because, in theory, the regulators are supposed to be answerable to the people.

More importantly:
But there was one accessibility feature that stood out among the rest: slow mode. I’ll let the developers explain.

Quote
One of the options that we’re most excited for our players to discover is our Slow Mode toggle, which allows players to slow down the action of the world in order to ease the challenge of both combat and platforming.

Simply put, Jedi: Survivor has an option that will let you play in what is essentially bullet time for the entire game.

Debatable if it’s an upgrade or downgrade, Jedi Knight 2’s force speed was basically bullet time. Jedi Knight 1 you moved really fast, like playing on fast forward.

I take it force speed was retconned out of existence.

Asus Ally price for the higher-end model has apparently leaked- it will cost $699.  That's really good if true.  Only $50 more than the highest-tier Steam Deck model.

How can reviewers recommend this game and give it high scores when it has obvious performance issues.

I know that in reviewing a pre-release build the devs usually say "Yeah we are gonna have a day one patch to alleviate the performance issues" but is that really good enough?

There's no game that can beat Jedi Knight 2 anyway, regardless of performance this game 99% isnt as good as JK2.

Lol, this console generation sucks balls. What the fuck is the industry doing? Why is the hardware and software cycle so out of whack? What are consumers doing buying consoles that only play previous generation games at sightly higher framerates and resolutions and have no exclusive games worth mentioning?

It does seem like something’s broken in general. Games are releasing as unfinished messes with such regularity that it can’t be a coincidence.

Consoles are three years old with numbers of major exclusives that you can count on your fingers.

And all this while they’re trying to sell games at $70 a time now.

No shit game sales are falling. There’s nothing to buy and what does come out will be better played in a few months when it’s in the state it should have launched in and is on sale.

It honestly feels like the competent people were just cut to save on cash. Let some suckers that'll work for pennies on the dollar slap together a game. It's how you end up with garbage like that GTA trilogy.

"We're a group of passionate fans working on the products we love."

As they're fleeced by Take Two taking them for the absolute suckers they are. Competent programmers are better off slapping together some shitty app for a hospital or something and rake in the cash.

Although I’m right near the end of RE4Remake, it started making me think of how they managed to keep that early 00’s vibe of badassery.. It strikes a balance of seriousness with a finely aged cheese, and it 100% works and makes it fun, while keeping the tense tone in a non-stop fashion.

With a new Tomb Raider being Remade/Rebooted, I feel like it would be even more appropriate that CD take this route of really embracing the 00’s vibe and bring that back, along with the grittiness of the last trilogy reboot.  Enough of the fragile girl blooming to the hardened adventurer shit…  Drop her in as her original, sexy, acrobatic, spelunking vixen she has always been.  Why try and make her “realistic” so people can feel emotionally attached again?  That’s not why we all liked TR in the first place.  I want to see her do handstands while climbing a ledge, because why the heck not?  It was fucking cool.

Xbox were in a place to do goodshit this gen, like the 360, but they've somehow managed to fuck it beyond belief. Like their only good exclusive was Forza horizon 5 and have had nothing since, bessides maaking the halo brand even more irrelevant.

Sony haven't been hitting home runs either but they've been active and making solid if not outstanding games at least.

Forza Horizon 5 is weird because the game is utterly broken now (especially the online leaderboards) and they add new DLC's and stuff but don't actually fix the fundamental issues.

They only had 1 strong holiday season this gen when they dropped Forza Horizon 5, HALO Infinite, Age of Empires IV on PC and shortly before Psychonauts 2.
There's also the weird situation where Bethesda has released fuck all ever since the buy out. Wolfenstein II released in 2017 , Young Blood in 2019 and Doom Eternal in 2020.
No sequels to any of these games have been shown or announced.

Perfect Dark was announced in 2020 and all we know is that Crystal Dynamics was called in to help develop it (or has taken the lead on it at this point) with the footnote that they will likely complete Tomb Raider before Perfect Dark.
Fable was announced all the way back in 2020 and apart from Playground Games leadership leaving and starting a new studio we haven't seen or heard anything.
Rare's new game Everwild was announced in 2019 and hasn't been seen since.

It would've been easy to start development on some fast to market games like Banjo Kazooie Remastered(12 months) a kart racer or PGR (~18 months) and money hat Dead or Alive 7, Ryse II and Titanfall 3 or whatever. There's also stuff that you can always get made quick like 'Warriors' games, like an asset flip Age of Empires: Warriors. But instead there's literally nothing and what is released (Redfall) is dogshit or send to die (Hi-Fi Rush).

Considering Forza Horizon 5 was the 5th entry in the series, the last Xbox first party game that excited me was Quantum Break.

I don't think that there's enough of a user base who cares enough to go for the Japanese-developed games if they were only on Xbox (and PC).  They need that Sony and Nintendo revenue.

Has Microsoft painted themselves into a corner by seemingly not caring enough about first-party games?  I have no idea.  But I don't get why people are thinking this the end for them because of one shitty game release.  I guess we've moved on from Nintendo and now it's "MS IS DOOOOMEDEDEDEDED."

I don't think xbox is doomed, they've just bungled the start of this gen really badly when the future was looking good for them pre pandemic.

Their top dogs main focus seemingly being the acti deal probably hasn't helped. And that shit looking unlikely now may be for the best looking at ms's recent history, if you enjoy acti blizz games :elon

Xbox is completely out of sync with their core fanbase. The fans (mostly left over from the 360 era) don't care about the things they are pushing. They want big triple A games and they want Microsoft to pump money and effort into exclusives that make use of the new powerful hardware. Meanwhile Microsoft mandates that games also run on the Series S, no longer buys any big exclusives (didn't even get Tomb Raider), shows all their games running on PC and goes around signing 10 year deals for Call of Duty with Nintendo and others. Xbox YouTubers and ambassadors now have thrown their entire weight behind Starfield. It basically needs to not be a unholy buggy mess at launch which seems like a big gamble. A lot of them point out that Microsoft said that 2023 would be the big year everyone had been waiting for. Spencer specifically mentioned Redfall getting delayed because they wanted to ensure it was up to their quality standards (that standard is apparently dog shit).Spencer has been hyping up all these things and hasn't delivered on anything. Not so long ago he said they were working hard to make Xbox bigger and Japan and now they've lost Final Fantasy.

So in the end there's two different things here. Xbox (GamePass) will continue to exist as a game publisher as well as an app on many different devices. As a competitive console platform however, it looks to be so far behind it's hard to see how it can offer any challenge to Sony let alone Nintendo. Unlike with the Xbox One they can't just release a more powerful Xbox that runs games better because it isn't a hardware problem and they're no longer getting all the big third party releases.

PlayStation is succeeding in spite of the shit job that Sony and third parties are doing on the software front (most likely because of blind brand loyalty).

I liked the latest Halo (Infinity?) campaign. Somewhat unfinished and proof of concept but lots of potential for a follow up. Then I see stories of key people leaving and it’s unclear what’s going on. People are angry about the multiplayer but that’s another story.

Is Halo what it once was? Sales, I mean. It was the biggest thing ever once upon a time. 2007, specifically. But it had juice until Halo 4. I should say, until people played Halo 4. I’m sure some people watched the TV show.

Sony panders a lot better to their core fanbase with stuff like god of war, GT and spiderman. even tho spiderman isn't on ps5. honestly it's kinda grim these consoles have been out as long as they have and there's like a hands full of fingers worth of games you would want to buy a machine for on each.

nevermind that the stink of last gen means nothing actually feels next gen. and pc gaming fucking sucks because of shader stutter. If resident evil 4 remake wasn't such a banger I would have quit gaming again and entered my second fuckboy era

Released first-party and 'exclusive' (not really because they're also on PC) games that people are actually buying.

I agree they've done a shit job too though.  I like Microsoft a lot more than Sony, because they've made it so that I don't need an Xbox at all since everything is on PC.  Thanks, Phil!

PS5 is successful in spite of itself.

As an Xbox owner what am I missing by not having a PS5? FFXVI? I'm probably the biggest FF fan on this site besides Demi and Tiesto and I don't give a shit about it. Sony exclusives? More dad gaming and hand holding. The only first party developer worth their salt these days is Nintendo and FFXVI if I ever want to play it will eventually come to PC. Xbox doesn't have first party, but between Game pass, backwards compat, and more it's easily the best bang for your buck if you just want to play vidya and don't give af about console wars in a modern gaming environment where almost every game worth playing is multi platform and has crossplay. I was a Sony diehard - I own over 100 PS2 games - and I have zero interest in PS5 beyond the Demon's Souls remake and Returnal (now on PC).

Wah wah Red Fall, Xbox is dooooomed meanwhile you're hyping up Sony walk sims that spoil the puzzle solution mid-game like Horizon or whatever.

When you have a library of about 300 PS4 games, you'd be distinguished mentally-challenged not to carry on with a system that's BC with them and play them better; whether it's performance or way faster loading.  To each their own.  I'm happy as fuck with my Fif.   :rejoice
