Sweet. This one seems to be flying under the radar which is a bit weird given who's behind it, but I like it.

They've had the worst marketing ever. These little videos they have done have been awful imo. And the E3 impressions weren't very good.

That being said I've always liked their games so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They essentially seem to be doing a realistic looking Mario Kart. It will all depend on how it actually feels of course although the power-ups they are using aren't exactly the most original. We'll see.

I really like PGR, but...this looks a bit like a b-tier burnout. actually, it looks kind of like what everyone expected current gen burnout to be before the whole open world thing was announced.

I'll definitely get this eventually, but there is no way in hell I'd buy day one.

I'm skeptical leaning towards disinterested.  I really need to try the beta or demo because videos aren't doing it for me. It sounds like Wipeout + Burnout, which sounds amazing, and PGR2 is my favorite racing game.  I just can't get excited from the videos.  I think it's because they're always selling this social aspect and I'm a bit confused about what they meant.  I'm hoping it turns out good.

The problem with Blur is that it was announced so close to Split Second (at least, I feel like it was) that it's hard for me to notice it when Split Second looks so goddamn cool. The one thing I'm interested in is that the game features actual cars and not fictional ones.

Split Second is made by the clowns that made the most overappreciated racer of this generation, and it looks way too slow. This one is all neon and slick.

Worst one of all time, more like it. It's like Raban caliber stuff, for real. Pure was a piece of muddy shit that only Australians and other tards like. Burnout Paradise is a marvel.

I don't get what Bizarre's relationship with MS was.  Sega published The Club (another awesome game they made.  They should do an XBLA sequel) between PGR3 and PGR4.

IMO, Pacific Storm is the best arcade racer followed closely by PGR4.  The only real knock against Pacific Storm though is its ridiculous rubber banding AI, without that it would've been perfect.

I'm still a complete PGR4 whore though an Blur looks fucking awesome.  Can't wait to try it out.

Microsoft wanted a racer and they had a racer. Microsoft wanted to invest into Turn 10 for a more Gran Turismo style game so Bizarre became less central to their plans.

The Club wasn't going to be a hit and they still were going to make Geometry Wars.

Forgot about Geometry Wars.  Bizarre really is hot fire.

I really need to just see one gameplay video of Blur to get a better opinion of it.  At least this beta would have some new videos coming out from people playing it.

Quote
Official Activision blogger Dan Amrich has confirmed that Blur's multiplayer beta will start next week, on Monday 8th March.

"Several websites will be launching contests and giving away beta tokens starting on Tuesday, 2nd March," he said. "The gameplay sessions that those tokens unlock do not begin until Monday, 8th March."

News broke (along with some erroneous reports that the testing would being today) when subscribers to the Fileplanet website were invited to "exclusive access into a highly classified Xbox 360 beta event". Respondents said the game was Blur, according to Kotaku.

Activision exec Mike Griffith announced a March beta for the Bizarre Creations racer earlier last month. So far, Xbox 360 is the only format that's been mentioned in connection with the test.

Blur is due in the second quarter of this year, some time between the start of April and the end of June. We took a trip up to Bizarre's Liverpool office to see it recently, so watch out for a report soon.

These are the sort of interviews they should have been giving from the get go instead of those lame "power-ups" are cool videos they were making. These at least explain their ideas behind doing this sort of game. The mods idea sounds kind of cool. My issue has always been that the power-ups they have shown aren't that many and on the face of it don't seem that exciting. But if there are "mods" for the base powerfuls then that's sort of expanding out on that idea and makes it more appealing.

I'm much more interested in the game now in general than I was before.

Yeah I heard that in one of the interviews and thought it was a pretty briliant idea. A racing game that essentially mimics the perk system of Modern Warfare is a pretty awesome idea.

The only thing about the items is that they're really hard to aim.  Also, if you get a good lead on the other racers, the race is pretty much done.  There is no blue shell or star here that helps you take the lead and skillful racing matters more than the items.  It's like wipeout in that way.

the perks are so helpful  :lol

I just unlocked one that increases the range of the shockwave move, and just as I saw the first place guy going for the speedboost, I pushed him off the stage.

Same.  I'll play the beta but I'm not sure if I'd buy this game.  While the sense of speed is great, the drifting mechanics are a little too realistic for my tastes, and the track design is pretty bland for the most part.

50,000 beta codes? That's about as many as PGR4 sold.

I think this would be a great party game in the Burnout mold but not really sold on it otherwise. I assume the SP will be an afterthought to the multi.

Put in a good 30 to 45 minutes. It's solid.

It's a fun game. Its multiplayer centric. I like the unlock system. I can't imagine it would be much fun in singleplayer but then I feel that way about every Mario Kart style game.

They do a good of keeping up the pace. You can't really spin out too bad or get stuck too bad because it resets you pretty quickly. Drifting takes a little bit to get use to in this context but it didn't seem too hard.

Probably not a great game but seems like a good one.
