I'm happy with that list I guess. Only character I'd want that could realistically make it is Psylocke. Ah well. Hsien-Ko makes up for it somewhat.

I could see the new characters being actual DLC too. Makoto came out for BlazBlue shortly after its release and she was more than an unlock key. And speaking of BBCS DLC, Valkenhayn is still MIA from the 360 version due to some problems with Microsoft or whatever. This is why DLC should be outlawed.

Nah, this is Capcom we're talking about here. Having two characters as "DLC" right at launch pretty much confirms that they are unlock keys.

And IIRC didn't people say they found the data for the BBCS characters on the disc despite their download sizes?

The Valk DLC thing is a mess on XBL, but last I read they were just going to update it when the third and final character is released. I can't even play BBCS on 360 anymore (imported it and now I have a U.S. 360...don't feel like paying $40 for another copy since I have it on PS3 and barely play it as-is), so it doesn't bother me. I think BB is going to be "dead" in the States once Marvel hits anyway.

360 mission modes? if we assume there's 20 per character (like in SSFIV) that gives us 16, which is impossible, but 10 per character is 32 non DLC characters which is far more believable. So far, there are 30 non DLC characters announced, leaving room for 2 more only. Phoenix is semi conformed from the Marvel side, so the other has to be a Capcom character? meaning no Sentinel or taskmaster?

Ouch, that's more GAF-esque speculation that my head can handle.

But I still think there will be more than 32 characters. The achievement doesn't say complete all of the challenges, so it might be like BlazBlue CS, where there's an achievement for completing 100 challenges, but there's like 150 total.

And if there is just one Capcom character left, it best be Hsien-Ko.

Looking at the acheivement list, it says that it's worth 40 points, now compare that to SSFIV's "complete all the challenges" achievement which was 50, and I think you might be right.

Forgot we had a thread about this.

Akuma's moveset was obvious but I appreciate the VS flare they gave him. Taskmaster looks awesome, and I'm glad his mimicry (or for the sake of Marvel's continuity: photographic memory) didn't take the shape of Edgemaster/Mokujin, as in he has his own dedicated moves, even mimicking characters that didn't make it (Moon Knight and Hawkeye).

Also, everyone should check WorstGiefEver's youtube channel, he's been uploading great direct stream videos all week.

I'm loving everything about this. GOTY for sure.

Akuma looks good. Hell, pretty much every character in this game looks really fun to play, so it shouldn't be too hard finding a fun team that works well with each. But right now only Dante is a lock for me.

I hope Capcom starts detailing the online and training modes soon. I for one hope this game has Halo-style matchmaking. I want to hit a button and then get matched with an equally-skilled opponent (with a good connection). I'm tired of searching for rooms, looking for green bars, and failing to join 20 times before I can actually get a game going.

But anyway, the final character reveals should be Hsien-Ko and Sentinel, right? I'll be looking forward to them.

I'm really digging how some characters can trigger hypers that give them buffs and retain those buffs when they tag out, like Arthurs gold armor and the Dark Phoenix transformation. Here's another clip featuring some of those properties, experimenting with Wolverine's buffs/Viewtiful's debuffs then tagging in/out. Also, some meter building moves from Morrigan and Felicia (Thor a has similar, but far more entertaining move, just like Felicia's). Really interesting stuff.

Too busy doing the MK one and another one I think. They've got a couple in the pipeline.

Also I'm so fucking tempted to pick this up at launch. I have a feeling it's gonna be huge, and my Super TE stick is collecting dust. I just suck REALLY bad at MvC2. I can only get like 3 stages into the Arcade Mode on the default difficulty and all of my victories are Time Outs.

Don't worry about it. A lot of people will be picking up the series for the first time, so there should be a thorough knowledge-base built up specifically for beginners -- something that has never really existed for MvC2, even on the forums. And hopefully the Challenge mode provides at least SOME guidance.

I'm in the same boat, honestly. I've always been terribly mediocre at the series.

Same here. I've never been into the Vs. games like I have been with Street Fighter, and even other similar-styled games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, for that matter. But I am looking to get into this game.

I was playing a little bit of MvC2 the other day, and this guy kept killing me with the standard Storm/Rogue/Sentinel crap. I finally decided to use Sentinel/Psylocke/DAN and wound up beating him...with the latter. That felt good.

Hoping MvC3 turns out awesome. Since it's supposed to be more like Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, only without the two distinguished mentally-challenged huge dudes fucking it all up, it should be fun. Looking forward to it.

I think a lot of casuals dig the VS games because it's much easier to pull off cool looking moves. Even simple shit like fireball and DP are easier to do in the VS games, compared to SF.
