I still don't buy it.  Coming back with one guy and no assists can't be as easy as you're making it out to be.  Level 3 X-Factor or not, you're at a significant disadvantage if the other guy still has his teammates.  And what's stopping the other dude from saving and activating theirs when the time is right?  Sounds like folks just haven't figured out how to deal with the system yet or simply aren't paying attention to it until it's too late.

Absolutely.  But it's also a little of both.  The difference is that after people figure more stuff out and truely-"broken" or unfair stuff pops up, the game can be patched easily, unlike how it was with MvC2 back in the day.

There are people freaking out about stuff in this game, and it hasn't even been (officially) released yet.  Most people haven't even played it yet...give it some time.  Also notice that pretty much everybody bitching about the game is still playing it like crazy.   :lol

So Lyte are we gonna do some Bore tourney business on Marvel this year?

Depends on how many people are up for it...not even gonna bother asking about PS3 since like three people here will get it on there.  The SF4 tourney went well enough, but SSF4 fizzled out.   :-\

We maybe waited too long to start that SSF4 tournament.  Everyone's interest was already fading by the time we got around to it.  If we set up a MvC3 tourney within the next couple weeks, I would expect the turn-out to be good.

SSF4 play has already dropped off because it's older and because of AE.  The home version is now "outdated," but don't worry...people will come back to it.  It's not going anywhere anyway.

My housemate and I went to Wal-Mart at midnight to pick up MvC3 for 360. We played about two hours and just quit.

First off, after ten years it's nice to play a sequel to Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Second, this game is weird. Weird in that they redid just about everything. It's not necessarily bad, but different. For instance, I was on media blackout aside from character reveals so I had no CLUE that they replaced the classic low punch, low kick, medium punch, medium kick;etc  button layout for three attack buttons and a launcher button. At first sight, it feels like simplistic, but after playing tons of matches it adds a lot of depth to the game and characters have a ridiculous amount of moves in comparison to MvC2. It took us about an hour and a half to get used to the feel of the game, something we weren't expecting.

Even characters we were expecting to play a certain way, after playing a lot of Capcomfighting games, played differently than expected. Ryu has a floaty jump, for instance. A lot of characters have floaty jumps and it took me a while to find someone I was comfortable with.

One thing I don't like is the new partner assist buttons. I hate it. I like how in past games you just press two buttons together to tag out, but here you have to hold the partner button to tag out. It feels unintuitive and slow in comparison.

In terms of overall fun factor, so far, I'm having a blast with Zero, Deadpool, Amaterasu, X-23, Magneto, Storm, and some others.

Overall I'm really loving the game and I'll purchase my own copy tomorrow when I go pick up Tactics Ogre and Dragon Quest VI. It doesn't really have the charm and personality of past games, but the complexity and learning curve is really off the charts for me, and it's going to be a lot of fun learning Marvel vs Capcom all over again, because it feels completely different to me.

I finally picked this game, it probably was one the most degrading purchases I ever made lol, let's just say there was a lot of running and yelling, this shit better be worth it.

The game is installing, but right off the bat I wanna get a few complaints out of my system:
- No dummy recording in training mode.
- No spectator mode in online mode.
- No lag/connection bars in online lobbies.
- (allegedly) No way of quitting a lobby in ranked/player matches once you're paired.
- (allegedly) No way of a rematch option in player matches (unless you create a custom lobby?)

I'll see whether the last two are true or not, but Capcom better flesh out their online implantation and lobbies asap and not withhold it for a Super release, or get too distracted by rolling out DLCs. Now it's time to try the game game itself and see which camp I'm gonna be joining.

It's a tribute to SF1's Ryu.

The first DLCs are going to be released March 1st, the costume pack is priced at $5. Shadow mode is getting released on that date too. Capcom confirmed that the first character pack (Jill/Shuma) will also get released on the first, even though the rumors were pointing to March 15th.

Yeah, Capcom will milk this cash-cow to death with DLCs.

Yeah, I saw one posted with that layout a few days ago. Fwiw, the official madcatz stick looks like this:

Which by looking at the buttons, the default setting would be:

 [L]  [M]  [A1]
[Sp] [H] [A2]

As far as I know, there isn't. I agree it takes some time to get used to, as calling an assist accidentally instead of switching can cause a state of rage.

(Seth said in an interview that it used to take a longer hold to tag in older builds)

It's the only thing I dislike about the game right now.

I wish they just kept the old way of doing things: L+SP = partner 1, M+H = partner 2.

It's quicker and way more convenient.

Yeah, I wish they did too, at least make it optional.

On a second though, after they changed the controls to match TvC's, I don't think they could afford offering that option since some of the special moves are executed by pressing various buttons +SP (Like Wolverine's Tornado Claw).

I guess it's good if all you want to do is mash and be able to play every character but I miss having diversity, also the netcode blows. I haven't been able to get into a match yet.

not in 2 and 1, for example bison played like Bison as did other characters. Ryu was actually useable. Because they had to put this on the xbox 360 they ahd to cigarillo it up so you have the shitty Tasunoko system and it's EZ MODE instead of requiring depht.
