I had a 6 from then too. Miss it a lot.
Yeah this is one special car. What are you driving these days?
About 5 years I found two Mazda 6's of about 10 year old at a dealer close by. They cost a mere 5k each because we were in the middle of the recession so no one wanted a gas guzzling, elegant, fast and furious type car in purplish blue.
Except me and the person who bought the other one. Which I had actually spotted quite a few times over the years. We even parked next to each other when we spotted the other car of the 'twins' even though we never met.
I stopped seeing the other car on the road a short while ago. Probably scrapped by now as well.
Now the life of my car has ended. This thing could handle everything you'd throw at it. In fact, someone once crashed into the passenger door and despite the heavy damage the mechanics could pretty easily fix it.
These things are build like tanks and drive so smoothly for a big car. I can't remember how many times I managed to easily accelerate faster than sports cars at traffic lights or wedge my way through road blocks and other obstacles leaving smaller 'supposedly' more nimble cars in my wake. It was always fun to bring it in for maintenance. The guys there loved it as well. You know you have a good car when the mechanic who decides it's no longer allowed on the road looks at you sad with teary eyes.
So now I'm looking at options and although my budget has now doubled compared to 5 years ago, I'm still seeing a lot low horsepower, energy efficient and boring cars that I want to avoid.
Maybe I should just get another Mazda, although the downside is that the newer models are more expensive, quite rare in these parts and when it comes to the 6 a tad bigger and this is already a big car.
Why wasn't my poor Mazda given another year
