Update on the Lancer. Today I went to check it out and for a 9 year old car it looks brand new. The previous owner took great care of it and the dealership owner offered me a 1 year extended warranty and the winter tires as part of the deal.
Looking at taking it for a spin this friday to see if it drives as good as it looks.

Also, he's willing to pay me 750 euro for my 14 year old Mazda 6 which is no longer allowed on the road by December.

So today I took the Lancer for a spin.

It will take some time getting used to (after all I've driven my old car for 5 years) but this car was surprisingly nimble and easy to drive.
Needless to say I decided to buy it there and then. The car market here is basically 'small efficient' and 'Boomer SUV's'.
So the car guys get excited too when they get to sell you a fun car and you have more interest in the horsepower and handling than how much 'noise' it makes.

Toronto, from what I have seen of it is really nice. From the north, to the south, east and west, all walls of my apartment look great. The walk to work is very beautiful, the view from work better, and at night its even nicer. All three restaurants I know of are easily somewhere on the 10 point scale. Also, I hear its not easy to actually get into Canada, especially if you have any kind of record. You should look into it.

Had some good times in the office yesterday.

We played Cards against Humanity and everytime something dark or political came up (Holocaust Jokes, Ronald Reagan, whatevs) everyone was bascially like: "Lol, this one is for Nintex"
I did get in one of the best jokes:

"When the US airforce bombed Afghanistan they gave the children ___"

Runner up: "Aids"
Me: "Free samples"

Although I must say that CAH stays interesting for about 20 - 30 minutes tops then everyone gets bored.
It was also funny to watch a co-worker explain some of the raunchy shit to his girlfriend like 'pixelated Bukake'.

Got a bit creeped out when taking the dog out tonight. Went out to the street and she did her business on some grass next to the entrance. Felt like I was being watched, looked up towards the street and saw someone walking with a light, on the other side of the road, who stopped moving as soon as I looked in their direction. Looked down at the dog and back up and they had moved slightly. Started walking in their direction and they began walking normally. Was then able to see them better and it appeared to be a girl wearing a hoodie that hid her face, walking a huge white dog. They didn't make a sound and when I got closer, my dog flipped out and started growling and barking at them. The other dog did nothing and there was no reaction from the girl. My dog almost never flips out like this, but whatever, kept on walking. She did her thing again and I turned around to go home.

Saw the girl go into the condo subdivision across from mine when I was walking back. Then suddenly when I got to mine and was going to go into it, the girl bolts across the road with her dog and my dog again flips the hell out and is acting really upset, pulling hard to go run after them. I stopped and calmed her down a bit. The girl and her dog again make zero noises and seemingly disappear when I turn to go in.

Then I see them standing off to the side on a curb. The girl is standing with her back to me not moving and her dog is facing me, staring, still not making a sound. The girl appears to be looking at a phone screen. I go to get the mail and turn back to see if she's still there. She has now moved up a little sidewalk towards the pool area. It's locked down at this time of year and she's right up at the gate just staring into darkness.

Went home and glanced back one more time from the front porch. Saw a light shining and moving around in a little wooded area next to the mailboxes. It again stopped moving when I was looking.

Did not recognize the dog and am pretty sure whoever that was doesn't live here. They weren't doing anything wrong, but it was oddly unsettling. Hard to tell if she was on something or maybe just super shy, but it's not normal to go walk around neighborhoods at night and just stand there doing nothing. Fucking weird.

1. Open lid halfway and remove the two packets.
2. Open Packet #1 and sprinkle packet contents onto noodles.
3. Add boiling water to the inside, fill line.
4. Close lid securely and let stand for 3 minutes.

I go onto her PC and check make sure that she actually restarted. Yes, really. Checked her scans folder from my end and it showed the scans. For whatever, they only don't show on her PC and are definitely there on the network. She hasn't been able to view any of her scans for almost a month.

Me: Not sure what's going on here, but I got your scans and I just emailed them over to you. We'll need to have someone look into this and--

Her: Let me show you something. [Desktop Support guy] put this little file thing on my desktop.

She shows me a .bat file. I check it and it's set to delete her scans folder and then run a gpupdate. I run this and it restores all the scanned documents that she was unable to see before.

Me: How long has this been going on for?

Her: Oh, maybe a year. They can't figure out what keeps causing it so they made that little fix for me that I have to run. I just didn't feel like doing it for a little while.

this is way too relateable. my work has most people working with surface tablets since they are out most of the day and that leads to some file sync issues when they get back. the amount of times i ask "did you restart?" when a file is missing or at the wrong version or something and then hear silence and a "oh, that fixed it" every day is beyond my ability to count.

Almost went lucid last night.

Was lost in this dream about me going to some EDM gathering at an abandoned mill (sorry, I live in New England), go outside and see that the engine is gone in my car. I mean, thats ludicrous enough, the fact someone had an engine picker and actually stole it. But dream me panicked. I then walked around a bit, went back to the car and acrually started it. I then questioned my reality. How is my car starting with no engine? I'm fucking dreaming. Car stalls. I wake up.
