Already got permission from the wife to go see M83 in April. They're playing less than a mile from our house so it will be glorious.

But yeah, baby due end of February so I'll be joining your ranks soon enough.

Awkward Bromance question incoming.

The current situation:

1. My best friend from high school is getting married.
2. We're not that close anymore. We meet up at Quakecon once a year and chat on Steam, that's pretty much it.
3. I didn't even realize he was engaged.
4. I find out when his fiance sends me a wedding invitation and a message on Facebook asking if me and another guy from high school will get together and have a bachelor party for him.
5. I assume if she's hitting up his high school friends to ask something like that, then he must not have a lot of close friends where he lives (he's about 100 miles from me) so I agree to do it
6. I tried to talk to him on Steam, he doesn't respond.
7. I talked to my other friend; he's attempted to call and text him, but he hasn't heard back from him either.

The question:
Is he done being friends with me, and am I justified in blowing off him and his wedding now? Or is this like some pre-wedding depression thing, and I should just drive up to his house and hug it out with him?

don't just blow it off!  send his wife a message asking why he isn't responding to you or other guy's calls.  she'll get on him and he'll either call or keep ignoring you, in which case it is ok to ignore him.

that or he was never really engaged and his psycho gf killed him and is trying to stall as long as possible until she can get rid of the body.

With the wedding coming up, he is definitely going to be preoccuppied, and unanswered text chats are not a reason to assume the worst. Figure out another way to get in touch, as Herr Gundam suggested, and give the guy a lot of leeway. If you've already been friends this long, it's best to keep at it, even if this wedding is something of a road bump.

Just realized I really don't have many more years of youth left. It's kind of like having a bunch of tickets at a carnival. When you still have a bunch in your hand, you might waste a few on something stupid like the Whack a Mole game, but when you've only got a few left, you're going for roller coaster or bust.

Go to a multi-day noise fest like Coachella or something similar if you've not yet. Dunno if I could hack 2-3 days in the desert now that I'm in my friggin' 30s but it was definitely a really cool time.

I'm 44 and still feel young, by and large. I have a herniated neck, but I got it doing back-rolls during karate. I ride a bike most places I go. Or walk and jump and skip. The biggest change I've noticed is that I can't drink as much as I used to, which isn't a horrible thing.

30s are great. In my 20s, I was a totally self-absorbedidiot, looking back. Now I manage to be that only about half the time. In my 50s, I hope to get it down to 10% of the time.
