Hey comp sci-Bore, I've got a question for you. I kinda want to try learning some new stuff while I've still got some winter vacation left but I don't really know what would be particularly useful. One of my friends suggested trying to learn Flash but then I'd have to actually get a hold of it plus it seems to be pretty quickly going out of favour as far as I can tell. Anyone got any other suggestions? I'm open to pretty much anything (programming, web stuff, digital art or whatever).

I can only see Flash being useful if you plan on making a game these days (lots of videogame UI are made in Flash).

I would learn a web language or get familiar with one. JavaScript/jQuery/Scriptaculous etc. or PHP.

possibly, I've tested on a couple of machines and the game works OK. Could you point out one thing you would do better/differently with the site?

Anyhow I just went skateboarding for the first time in ten years as part of my new years resolution to be more active and consume less calories. Had heaps of fun! I found out I could still ollie, and managed to land a couple of FS 180 ollies. If I keep this up I'll be nailing flip tricks soon!

So on facebook, former youth pastor added me to his fb. All of his status updates are like,PRAISE GOD and shit, and I sometimes make crazy posts. I never really combat people about religion or anything, but I'm not ashamed of using a bit of atheistic humor. So tonight I make a status update about Santorum and his thing on homosexuality and pornography, and say the dude totally has a thing for peckers. Someone asks what's wrong with porn (she and her husband really like porn) and I explain that god probably doesn't need porn to get off due to his omnipotence.

The youth pastor goes and makes this status update on like, making fun of "us" and God and quickly defriends me.

The pitbull bites my dogs ear pretty hard which causes her to flip out and growl and bark. Ive just been leaving the pit in her cage for most of the day and letting her out every couple of hours to goto the bathroom and stretch her legs.

Brewed a Citra Hop Pale Ale today that I'm gonna hand out when the lil' girl is born instead of cigars. Brought a couple growlers of killer beer and also drank a bunch of the porter we made a couple months. It's aged REALLY WELL.

I feel bad but the smell of beer brewing makes me so sick. It always gives me a migraine, but it's so much worse now. If they brew again before the baby comes, they may need to do so at somebody else's house. Plus the last time, I could smell it for a week after.

Yeah, smells appear to get magnified, at least in terms of personal reaction to them. My wife used to love roast chicken, but she smelled it once during her pregnancy, and has been unable to deal with the smell of it ever since... 12 years ago now!

It's a pity, as it's one of the few dishes I can make pretty well.
