Done with the first semester of my MBA.  One class is an A, the other might be a A-.

For the latter class, there was a major project that had to get done.  A couple people were supposed to make corrections to a report as it was too long (I redlined what I thought should be taken out/modified) and the formatting was goofy.  The rest of the team members offered their suggestions and we did this the week before the paper was due.  When it was time to turn it in, the people responsible for the report said they didn't have time to make the corrections so they turned in the report as is.  As easy as this class is, we got docked 20 points, which put us in the running for the lowest scored group for the project.  I had a 98% and now I'm at a 91%.  If I nail the final, I can probably eke out an A but otherwise, A-.  I worked my ass off in this class and seeing this happen filled me with AWESOME-O like rage.  It still annoys me that grown adults can't get their shit together.  Also these classes are extremely expensive so it boggles my mind why people aren't willing to put in the effort to get the most out of these classes.

Oh well, it is what it is.  Time to spend today jerking off to porn.  Maybe I'll get an iPad Air.

We were driving in that bs. Nothing, blue skies, warm, breezy. Then BAM apocalypse. Can't see out of the windshield, I look to the sides and there's trees being uprooted, there's a stoplight overhead just dangling by the electrical cord. We go a few hundred feet and u-turn just as the hail starts up. The stoplight that was loose is now gone. It was a block or so away. The metal trashcans that are chained in place are in the middle of the street. We finally get away from the city and hit the end of another cell by Westport. Cars are in ditches and debris everywhere. The baby was just sleeping away in the backseat like it ain't no thang.

But we went to Lola's for brunch and got chicken and waffles god damnnnnn. It would've been my last meal and I was ok with that.

Ate leftovers for lunch; I was full and didn't spend any money.

Made about half of dinner.

Muricans - who is your car/homeowners insurance provider? Do you like them? Do you feel like you're being anally raped each month?

Geico just went up again, and our homeowners insurance (Travelers but tied to our Geico account) went up again. And I added it up - we're paying almost $3500 a year for a good anal raping. I checked Progressive last year and again just now, and it would save us $1300 a year for auto and homeowners, and the policies are actually better. The only experience I have with them was when I was in an accident with someone insured by them. Their claims adjuster guy was actually much easier to deal with and used common sense to realize his insurer was fuckin up and trying to fraud. Never heard from the guy again. When I talked to Geico, they just had me repeat back the same auto and driver info that they've had on file for 5 years.

"No... That's not us."
"Oh, I see, there's a Subaru. What was the damage on the Subaru?"
"None, it wasn't involved in the accident. The Civic was."
"Oh you have another car?"

Then after that accident we were in when I was pregnant, good god. It took another 9 months (no lie) for them to determine the other guy was at fault even though he admitted he didn't see us and pulled out into us. (He had American Family - even worse to deal with than Geico fyi). Geico wasn't at all helpful, just would periodically ask us if the other guy's insurance company had resolved it.... Ridiculous. That's what we pay you assholes for. I finally got a check 9 months later to reimburse the measily $800 in medical expenses. You can't even sneeze into an ER for less than a grand, and I waddled in 7 months pregnant after an accident needing ultrasounds and testing. Just cut the damn check and high five your coworker cause you just got off damn easy.

Allstate and Statefarm are some good choices and its partially due to the fact that they usually have much higher rates than competing companies. The old saying is true, you get what you pay for. Personally having only dealt with both of the companies I mentioned I've never had to file any large claims. We have 3 properties covered with homeowners insurance and 4 cars in total as well as renters insurance and some liability insurance since we have renters. It's an expensive proposition when you deal with insurance companies. There are also private companies too which are worth looking into. I've heard even some credit unions offer insurance.

Don't get me started on hospitals and the bullshit behind that crap. It's awful how they think making you wait for 8 hours is somehow worth money.

We have State Farm.  Their rates are pretty damn low because we have everything through them.  4 cars, a motorcycle, house and 2 life policies for under $300 a month.  My wife used to work for them so she set up all our policies and we have ultimate coverage on everything with low deductibles.

USAA has the best customer service and online access bar none. I do everything I possibly can through them, even if it costs me a little more.

USAA is the best of everything.  We save something like 700 a year on all our stuff.

We use Thrivent for life insurance.

Always save your e-mails, folks.  Too many dumbasses will try to throw you under the bus if there is the possibility of them doing slightly more than the bare minimum.

We deal with the same kind of stuff at my place. Emails go out daily with documentation, announcements, new processes, etc. And people routinely ignore it. It's gotten to the point where I've sent emails out where I ask people to do simple stuff like "The first person to come over to my desk with a printed version of this email gets five bucks"

And nobody ever shows up.
