There have been fire crackers the last couple of times walking Nami and now she won't go outside again. Last time this happened she was anti anxiety meds for 6 months and only really got ok when I moved to a new area. Serious fuck people who thinks fire crackers are fun. And fuck people with overly loud motorbikes. I want to murder someone right now. Fuck.

A friend of mine who came home from Afghanistan and Iraq would have panic attacks every Fourth of July due to fireworks. He'd have to stay in his parents basement with headphones on.

thankfully he's had therapy since then and is doing a lot better. But yea, seeing his reaction for the first time was scary. His eyes alone were haunting.

Just yesterday, there was a fucking MLS game on TV. Apparently, if there are too few soccer games (there aren't there's like a million games per year), the alternative isn't a different sport but other soccer leagues.

Baseball is the Eurosport of Amerisports.

I think what I love about football compared to soccer is the physics. Between the speed, the hitting, the differences in stature, the fact that hands are simply better tools than legs etc, there's just a lot more variety in the imagery, especially in slow motion. It feels like football makes better use of the available space/dimensions, soccer feels so "flat" to me. I can't really describe what I mean, sounds kinda weird, but it's a very visually satisfying sport.

I feel like you could take a single Rams-Jags game to the NFL Films guys and they'd be able to turn it into a better higlight film than what a whole World Cup will produce in soccer.

I also think that there's an inherent problem with the incentives in soccer. In football, each play will either end in points or a tackle, so it will always try to move forward. In soccer there's so much lateral and backward passing, I can sit there and be like "oh, something's gonna happen! Oh, so close! Wait, something's gonna happen!" and then I realize another 30 minutes have passed where I was constantly waiting for something to happen, but it didn't.
It's a horribly Blue Balls sport.

Then again, I also love Michael Bay movies. I can tolerate a lot of shit if there's a bit of amazing visuals in between.

I also enjoy the NBA passing game. They have a shot clock, though.

Also, I always think there's some degree of exoticism involved. I probably wouldn't love the NFL as much if I was constantly subjected to Peter King and Skip Bayless, and you wouldn't like soccer as much if it was the only thing that's ever on TV.

But the idea that hundreds of pages worth of playbooks and formations can be broken down to a simple QB/coach game is laughable my dude.

But still...even if we look at skill players that argument feels shaky. A running back makes a ton of decisions, and sure as hell makes plays. The OL makes plays...

A WR often changes their routes depending on what's happening with defensive pressure on the QB. Meanwhile a CB has to adjust. Just an example from last year of faking a route to beat the best CB in the game. That's a skill player adapting a play to make it work against an elite player.

My point is just that multiple positions do multiple things, there's a lot of strategy and individual decision making that separates good players from great ones. That's true of every sport. I think we're closer to agreement than disagreement, I'm just saying the game is quite complex and there aren't many positions out there that get to mentally not show up. Hell the TE position is becoming nearly as complex as the QB position. The Lions drafted a TE last year who was good in college but struggled specifically because he had to learn as much of the playbook as our QB.

Real traumatic stress? Probably - but he must of have experienced/absorbed it from the Internet.
He's an open minded "[he/him]/queer/ equality for all/etc/ feminist". By "open minded" I mean he tolerates and sometimes participate whenever we joke around in the group.

But this new guy who we where hanging out with spouted some legit actual racism (against people of Indian and Arab decent) and I guess that "actual racism" that was coming out of his mouth just "triggered" our friend.

In hindsight we knew that our feminist friend of ours had limits and we should of have shut up the new guy. But we couldn't believe what we where hearing from him that we just didn't say anything. We were just shocked, and before you know it, our friend was like "fuck off with this shit" and got out of the car.

Anyway so about a few mins ago these people were going door to door in my apartment complex. These "good Samaritans" must think that all people people with a Hispanic name must be poor or something cause they were offering to donate food to us. (and only us with a Hispanic name it seems)

They looked at me strange tho (prolly saw the bravia in the living room) but still offered me the box.
Inside the box was nothing but pop tarts, chocolate covered raspberries and other junk. (It's like they spread diabetes instead of helping out) I politely declined.
