One thing I don't understand from an evolutionary standpoint:

Humans seem to be a terribly inefficient species. Maybe 50% of our lives is spent at a level where we have enough knowledge/skills to produce, yet aren't already kinda decomposing. And all the knowledge we spend so much time acquiring is lost regularly when we die.

Why hasn't evolution overcome this problem? Wouldn't it be much better for this species if we didn't throw away our hard-earned skills unnecessarily?

The knowledge is not lost when we die. There's rumors that some of the greatest minds didn't even have sex but they passed down a whole lot.

Unless you're saying we don't pass down minute details of our daily lives whjch unfortunately we are now, the Internet is permanent.

Isn't that a solved problem? Language and the more recent upgrade in the form of writing took care of that. No reason to bloat our genome further by hardcoding all the shit when the current shit when we're good enough to survive, fuck, abd raise kids as is. The rest is supplemented through teaching, where necessary. I'm still looking forward to our brainchip future though.

You're making a mistake when you assume that we are the ultimate form of creation. Like all other species, we are transitional.

As a species we are rather young and there are only minor benefits of surving long enough to help sustain grandchildren. It's far more likely that we manage to extend our lifespans through artificial means than that evolution will shape us in that way.

I'm not a science guys, but the knowledge discussed is not really relevant to evolution which is mostly biology, isn't it ? Besides I would say we made leaps and bounds in how we communicate and store human knowledge. We wouldn't have such a specialized society where the most essential tasks (agriculture) can be fulfilled by only 5% of the population. You could also say that mass education is a way to insulate the most important knowledge from a localized disaster. I'd say that base is much more solid and larger than Christian institutions that were able to pass on a good bit of knowledge through 1500 years.

Well, of course, communication. And of course I don't think humans can be separated from their inventions, they really are what makes us human.

But still, you'd think we'd profit hugely from a Newton/Einstein/Feynman/von Neumann/whatever having some more time on earth.

But of course, we haven't stopped evolving, and of course if you look at how life expectancy is changing, we've made huge strides. Oh well, we'll see.

Getting food from different places for a single meal is like a no-brainer level thing that I'm surprised I never thought of sooner. When I was in NYC last last week I wanted nachos but also some noodles so I ordered from a mexican place and a chinese place. Was an awesome dinner.

Working long tonight due to some communication fuck up that now requires me to babysit my samples for a few more hours. It feels awkward because my boss feels guilty so he told me to take advantage of the expense meal at some really nice restaurant around here (hipster area) but of course I'm too embarrassed to walk into a restaurant alone on a Friday night in acid stained lab jeans so I just went to Taco Bell. Taco Bell is good. No one judges you in Taco Bell.

I didn't mention that the Taco Bell is in the bad area of Berkeley. Had to drive right between a black and white dude who were shouting insults at each other in front of Home Depot which was kinda funny. The Thai burger place lacks that sort of character.

Welp, just found out someone I know was arrested and charged with murder a few days ago. She allegedly stabbed someone to death early last year and the investigation led to her.

I used to tudor at a community college and she was a student there; I helped her many times. Ran into her a few months ago. Always seemed kinda awkward and "slow" but was nice.
