Welp. Tried to install linux, failed, did a clean Windows 7 install. Couldn't resist trying Windows 10 again, upgraded to Windows 10, hated it plus internet didn't work, installed linux again. Using it now with a text-based browser. I feel like neo in the matrix. I couldn't get my wireless internet to work in linux before, but I bought a linux-supported USB dongle, works out the box.

You never upgrade to the first version of a Microsoft product.  You usually have to wait until the second or third version of it before jumping in.

Windows 7 has extended support (=Bugfixing and Security Support) until 2020.

I agree about the design though. I like flat design in principle, but Windows 10 just doesn't look right. Dunno why Mircosoft is unable to design an OS that is pleasing to the eye.

I like beer sometimes, but it's seemingly random. Some days I take my first sips of a typically sweet beer and it tastes bitter as fuck, some days the the fourth beer tastes just as great as the first one.

Think I might have to bin my Windows 8.1 tablet. Won't update, won't install Windows 10, won't even install apps from the app store. Two reformats today did nothing, either.

Between this and discontinuing the Outlook.com app in mobo (which integrated the Outlook.com calendar into Android's calendar, something the new Outlook app doesn't appear to do), I can't say I'm going to go out of my way to use Microsoft products anymore. How they got from Windows 7 to this point is embarrassing.

Yeah I noticed a swell of spelling and grammar errors in articles around the 2008 recession. I don't know if jobs like copywriting ever recovered but generally companies in all industries tried to remain lean afterwards if they thought it would be worth it.

Even articles written by people I would consider smart have grammar mistakes.

My dog got attacked by a big St. Bernard today. This was at a park and the other dog dragged his owner(s) by the leash and attacked. My wife was trying to fight him off and these two dog "trainers" also helped. I was not there but was told the owners basically did nothing, which really pisses me off. My wife thought our dog was OK and just went home...no contact info. I found a little hole on her back and immediately took her to an animal hospital. They in turn found a much larger puncture wound on her side and got her patched up. No major injuries, fortunately. Am out $760 on this but I don't think the owners could be held liable anyway, since their dog was leashed.

Now the dog is at home and looking miserable. I think she's actually just sulking because she has gauze and bandages and doesn't like them. Wouldn't eat her food and I couldn't even get her to pee for hours, but she finally just went. Called the hospital and they said she should probably start feeling like her old self again by tomorrow afternoon. If it is the bandages causing the behavior, then it's just one more day of sulking because they can come off on Tuesday. Then next week the stitches can come out.

I hate seeing the dog like this because she's always this little happy energy fireball and it pisses me off that some assholes can't control their own pets. WTF were they even doing trying to train an aggressive dog for in the middle of a fucking park, anyway? Assholes.

My father is a retired lawyer and said it wasn't worth pursuing.  Or rather it wouldn't have been if we even had a way to find out who the owners are.  You'd have to prove that the dog had a history of aggression for anything to actually happen.

EDIT: It IS worth pursuing...he checked GA law and they are supposed to be held responsible after all.  Now I really wish we'd gotten their contact information.

Got the Android Marshmallow update on my Nexus 5. The doze mode is pretty legit. Left my phone idle over night at ~38%, woke up to 36% five hours later.
