Holy shit at Action Hero Nimoy :lol :hyper And no doubt Fringe > LOST

Alt Olivia is so fucking cute :heart

I'm still on the fence about whether or not Nimoy is evil. The show hasn't given any indication on why the other Fringe team was at the park, unless they were tipped off.

What I loved about this finale is that Walter basically assembled the X-Men to crossover, and how the writers have been able to juggle two sets of characters without making one side good and one side evil. You can totally justify the other world's actions; in fact, everything has been our side's fault so far. :lol

EDIT: Blue, who would you bang - blonde Olivia or red hair Olivia? The red haired Olivia seems like she's cockier, probably better in bed too.

Definitely Ginger Olivia. Blonde Olivia comes off as extremely dense (well, any scenarios that isn't about mutated killers), hate that shit.

On another note, I love that piece of Alt Dimension propaganda (with the machine and Peter's face which is spewing fire from his eyes). Its so creepy.

I missed that (and I remember the Bus scene too) Gotta rewatch it.

What was he calling it, "arachnids"? It seems like they were using it as a way to make the alt universe weirder but it would be awesome of they revealed what the hell it is.

I think you'd like it. It's like The X-Files meets Dr. Who, a very cool blend. The caveat is that the first half of the first season is a bit of a chore; the show didn't find its identity until the second half (I think you might be able to find a thread from years ago where I was pretty much ready to dump the show five episodes in). And then it's off to the races.

It follows The X-Files in season structure, with main storyline mythos dispersed between "monster of the week" episodes. I like it quite a bit. I thought the episode two weeks back, "Northwest Passage", was a very genuine and heartfelt tip of the cap to Chris Carter.

Really? I had no drive to watch an episode this season because of that distinguished mentally-challenged cliff hanger. It was like exactly like the end of season 1 in lost when you see the hatch just leads to a giant hole.

Guh? It was pretty awesome, and the show is better for it. Unlike Lost, I've never felt the writers were, pardon the pun, lost. If this was a Lost production, we'd find out about Peter's origins sometime in Season 4... after it had been dragged out forever.

I thought it was funny that MLK is on the $20 bill in the alternate universe. :lol

And Nixon on the half dollar.

"Who's Jefferson?"

That who's Jefferson comment makes even more sense when you know that the map of the US in Walternate's office lists Louisiana as "Louisiana Territory".

Yeah. By the way, the shot from the cold open, where the camera moves through the sun roof and then pulls out to reveal the alternate universe skyline (with zeppelins!) - and the accompanying Michael Giacchino score - was totally awesome.

I do wish the Walter Bishop school of X-Men wasn't so short-lived. :'(

I don't think the whole alternate universe thing really materialized until the last few episodes of the season. In LOST they were jacking us off with the hatch for literally over half of the season

I thought they brought that stuff up mid-season. I remember them hyping up the meeting with Lenard Nemoy's character, and the final scene was just him saying hi.

Has Abrams EVER been the showrunner on Lost other than the first season? Even then?

The answer: NO. He was Executive Producer, but he pretty much didn't do too much with Lost other than help pen an episode in Season 3

It's pretty much been Lindelof since Abrams brought him on, and then Cuse starting with the second season. I don't really think he should be considered as the man behind this finale coming up.

Quote
Unhappy with the result and a subsequent rewrite, Braun contacted J. J. Abrams, who had a deal with Touchstone Television (now ABC Studios), and was also the creator of the TV series Alias, to write a new pilot script. Although initially hesitant, Abrams warmed up to the idea on the condition that the series would have a supernatural angle to it, and collaborated with Damon Lindelof to create the series' style and characters. Together, Abrams and Lindelof also created a series "bible", and conceived and detailed the major mythological ideas and plot points for an ideal four to five season run for the show.

Awesome swan song for Nimoy now that he's retired. I really liked him in this episode and the exchanges between Walter were pretty good. Walternate is definitely one cold blooded motherfucka.

Yeah, it's a shame Nimoy is retired. He and Noble had pretty good chemistry together. I love how Noble can make every exchange pretty humorous, even with such a dense episode ("They have such fabulous drugs here!"). The bit about how he discovered all the secret herbs and spices killed me. :lol

The Fake Shemp

It was predictable, but pretty well done. I liked it a lot, sets up a lot of interesting possibilities for next season. And I've really dug the groundwork the writing staff has put down.

EDIT: I think that the Fringe team is going to start to track down the rest of the Cortexifan kids, and start a school of X-Men!

Didn't even really feel like a twist. I definitely would have rolled my eyes if some Nolan'esque trailer music up swelled as the camera panned from Walternate to Olivia in the cell.

Though I have a feeling this situation may go on for a few episodes? next season. Unless they plan on having Gingivia really take on the role and does some Monster of the Week stuff :lol

The Fake Shemp

I think it will be somewhat resolved by the mid-season finale.

I'd love for the Fringe team to figure things out and use Sam Weiss: Bowling Alley Guru to train the rest of Cortexies and launch a rescue mission for Olivia. Or if Olivia discovers how to use her abilities, and "Arachnids" Charlie helps her launch an insurrection! Parallel universe civil war!

O SNAP. :lol

I like how they are still hyping war on Lost, but the island is down to like ten people that are still alive. That's not war. I don't even think that qualifies as a battle. Maybe more like a skirmish or a tussle. Hype that, ABC.

Just finished the episode. So good.

Anna Torv is really something else. She's bound for bigger things. I worry about Season 5 and 6 of this being disrupted as hollywood lures her away to larger paychecks. Her depiction of Dunham is always impressive, but taking the character such a subtly different direction and still have it so believable and consistent. Same for Noble; he's had so many variants on Walter, it's hard to know where to start praising him.

I give it one episode before they figure it out, because of the scene with our Olivia and Peter. The other side's Olivia is just not smart enough to keep up the charade and Peter is smart enough to (a) figure it out and (b) not clue in Other Olivia.

The Fake Shemp

  • Ebola Carrier
I don't think so. Altlivia had some clue that Peter and Olivia had the hots for one another, she actually asks Olivia that directly ("Are you guys a couple?"). I don't think Peter's affections will be a surprise for her. Although, someone did point out that Altlivia's speech patterns are different; she regularly drops "g" from pronunciation (lookin' instead of looking) and is not as precise as Olivia (lots of "uh" and "um" inserted into her dialogue). Maybe Peter will pick up on that.
