well yeah. i mean if i had to choose just one. i decided on:

Sarif. Taggart wants to keep the Illuminati around and that's not cool. Darrow wants to stop the Illuminati but at the same time may stop all technological research, and that's not cool. The fourth option isn't bad, letting humanity decide for itself. However committing mass murder against everyone in the facility is not cool.
So Sarif is the only option. It allows continued research on augmentations and deals a blow against a terrorist group. And Jensen is still alive to fight the Illuminati.
Pretty great single player experience overall. I like that there's a lot of story in the side things like computers, ebooks, etc that flesh out the world instead of it simply being exposition. The story itself was pretty wacky at first I had a hard time following what was going on but the basics are enough to make it make sense.
In regard to the Illuminati:

So Zhao, and Taggart are members of the current iteration?

I didn't even know who the fuck he was when he was brought into the story. i must have completely missed him being mentioned
I had a low of fun playing this as a straight stealth game. I wouldn't even have minded if this was a 3rd person game since jumping in and out of cover is a little weird. Using the various augments to be super stealthy was great. Seeing through walls to get an idea of my surroundings, hacking terminals to turn off cameras, choking dudes out, etc. all satiate my MGS hunger that I haven't had in a number of years. Hell, if this was just more of all of that but more focused on primarily being a stealth action game without all the RPG stuff I wouldn't mind. that said, the RPG stuff was still pretty fun too. I liked that the majority of sidequests where given to you while you're on the critical path so most people won't miss a bulk of the content. but it's still good that they put a few out in the world for you to find to encourage exploration.
the world itself i felt was a good mixture of being just big enough where you felt you could get lost initially (to me that's a plus) but dense enough where even if you're wandering you'll still probably find something. this is something i've had issues with in a lot of open world games. you give me a large open area but it's so large that it feels empty. IMO here I felt there's was nearly always
something to find, whether it's a credit chip, a pocket secretary, some ammo, something to hack, or even just some XP. give me something for exploring and i'll continue doing it.
This is def a top 10 contender but I simply can't take top spot thanks to those damn boss battles. They're just downright awful and there's really nothing redeemable about them. If you removed those or did something else in it's place, it could have had a real shot.
as it stands though. really awesome game.
