Interesting concept of trying to bake in the home court advantage.

Quote
And so in a Hail Mary, some teams are trying to invent a way to exchange the home-court advantage they lost for an alternative edge in Orlando.

Executives from the teams that would host a first-round series in the playoffs told ESPN that they had internal discussions within their own front offices about reviving their home-court advantage in some fashion, and that some have already shared ideas with other teams in the same situation, with the hopes of having an ally when making an appeal to the league.

Yes, some of the very teams that could soon be trying to eliminate one another in the postseason have been recently working together in a shared pursuit to regain the advantage they would have enjoyed at home.

Strange times make for strange bedfellows.

Some of the scenarios discussed, sources told ESPN, include:

The higher-seeded team being awarded the first possession of the second, third and fourth quarters, following the traditional jump ball to begin the game.

The higher-seeded team being allowed to designate one player to be able to be whistled for seven fouls instead of six before fouling out.

The higher-seeded team receiving an extra coach's challenge.

The higher-seeded teams being able to transport their actual hardwood home court from their arenas to Orlando to try to preserve the feel of their home playing experience.

An off-court feature in which playoff teams, in order of seeding 1-16, receive first choice on picking which hotel they will stay at in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney World Resort. ESPN is owned by the Walt Disney Co.

There are some people saying that he didn't propose that but who knows. It's gonna be a he said, she said thing.

I'm fine with whatever the players do and I do think this is a good time to pressure the NBA to do even more on social issues both within and outside the game.

That being said, I disagree that not playing is the best way to do this. I've always felt the best way to deal with these issues is to talk about these issues in a public facing way. They are public figures who get interviewed and talked to every day. I think that opportunity is more powerful than not playing. But that's just my opinion.

That's kinda my point. Say this stuff. Taking a knee has always struck me as ultimately inconsequential. There is no after effect of that other than the people who are gonna get outraged at such actions. Talk about how one party especially is complicit in this. Talk about the actions of individuals. Speak to the issues and the consequences. That always has more power.

I know they said a lot of it would be televised but that's even more than I expected.

I assumed all of it would be televised. For the games that don't have a network assigned, is there literally no way to watch them?

I'm assuming local stations will still get their feed. RSNs is where a ton of these teams make their money.

Lebatard show had it right, 'the bubble' gives off the air of something fragile and weak. They need to rebrand into something assuring us of strength. The Impenetrable Dome, the Circle of Solitude, the Iron Fortress.

It's still just scrimmages. It doesn't kick off until next week. I more meant that this is the first real basketball that is actually being played versus watching old games of the past.

Watched some of the games yesterday. Not too bad. I think they put in an ambient crowd noise thing which personally I could do without but whatever. As long as its not a crowd cheering or something. The players also feel like they pose a little less since there is no crowd to celebrate to.

The New York Knicks and Tom Thibodeau are finalizing a five-year deal to make him the franchise's next head coach, sources tell ESPN.

Knicks president Leon Rose and agent Spencer Breecker of CAA Sports were working Saturday to complete contractual terms, and a signed agreement is expected in the near future, sources said.

And so it begins tonight.

Decent assist count for him, but yeah, his shooting sucks tonight.  AD playing well but he needs to start passing out to the perimeter, the spacing is there for the Lakers but I haven't seen AD kick it out much

Good game. Not pretty but both teams cared. Lakers win with Lebron kinda having a crappy night. But then again Clips were also missing players so probably a push.
