Just watched the gameplay clip. Looks pretty fucking awesome. Ken Levine is the king of cinematic gaming. :bow

Also, we need more game developers with large egos. They are always the most entertaining. If they think their game is in a league of its own, I hope they don't hesitate to say it.

"I’d like to show everybody some of the new stuff that we’ve been working on in the near future. The only problem with that is that when the other developers see what we’re doing, they’re going to lose all of their motivation to create any game in the same genre, because there’s no way they can beat it." -- Tomonobu Itagaki

And he was right.

Why were the NPCs treating the main character like he had just mistakenly taken a sip from the whites only water fountain when he clearly had pure anglo skin himself ???  The developers of this game totally missed the boat by not having a colored protagonist curb-stomping his way through honkeys mecca.

Also they need to rename this game White Flight II: This Time Its Literal.

Bioshock 2 is one of the worst sequels I've ever played. It's even worse than Halo 2. But this game looks pretty good. I'm just glad they're using another setting this time around.

Can't wait, I'm also glad Ken Levine is back behind it.

Bioshock 2 was also an entirely different team, 2K Marin instead of 2K Boston.

Bioshock 2 did have better gameplay though, but everything else was balls deep worse.
The ability to shoot and use plasmids at the same time made a world of difference.

two quirks about that are the two weapon limit and no shooting on the rails.  odd considering enemies chasing you on the rails can fire at you.

BioShock® Infinite Now Planned for February 2013
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2K Games announced today that BioShock® Infinite from Irrational Games is now planned to launch worldwide on February 26, 2013.

Ken Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games, stated, “When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”

About BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite, developed by Irrational Games, won over 75 editorial awards at E3 2011, including the Game Critics Awards’ Best of Show.

In this first-person shooter, the player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, who is sent to Columbia to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so they may escape from a city literally falling from the sky. DeWitt learns to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harnesses the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

BioShock Infinite is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows-based PC, and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

By the time Bioshock Vita comes out, Nintendo will have already announced its next handheld that matches the Vita's specs.  Gonna get Revelaiton'd.

2013 makes Bioshock Infinite something like 5 1/2 years since Irrational's last game.  Might as well delay for an even six.

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I liked Bioshock but not quite as much as most people. And mostly for the immersion rather than the gameplay which was solidly average for me. We'll see I guess.

The game has been done for a while now so this might be the case. But you really can't polish a turd. I am optimistic that it will be great. I also just happen to be a sucker for the collectors editions like this.

I didn't mean that it still can't be entertaining, but I'm just so disappointed when I hear gamers speak about the games. With films or novels you at least get a handful of people who try to understand things like artist intent, metaphors, etc. Respectfully treating it like the artform it is
But gamers just sit there with there mouths open going "Where the multiplayer at? I wanna shoot mah friends head off" or "Bioshock is about Rapture!" Just read the stupid comments yourself

Yeah; I suspect most of the problems about Bioshock Infinite shipping are likely less about tech and gameplay, and more about Levine not really knowing what he wants until he sees something and can tell you that you're wrong.

I would be lying if I said all the game as art talk around this game hasn't annoyed the shit out of me.

We'll see how that effects the end product. Like I mentioned above I thought the weakest part about Bioshock was the actual gameplay. So hopefully there is a better balance in how much effort they put in the art and design, and themes of the world as in the actual gameplay. They've certainly had enough time to do so based on the dev cycle length.

i tried to play OG Bioshock again recently and tapped out pretty early. The atmosphere is great if you're in the mood for it but comically grimdark if not. An odd thing happens when 'realistic' graphics age: they start to look absurd and lose all verisimilitude. So the little sisters and such just look like ridiculous little 3D puppets to me now

I love the first Bioshock, but I doubt anyone here will try to convince you that it truly was THAT good of a game. I mean Bioshock 2 had waaaaaaaaay better gameplay but sucked in every other way.

I don't care if there's a twist or not, I just think the actual game looks sweet and the story does seem cool. I'm going to look for it later today to see if it got the early saudi release treatment.

I'm pretty sure that just having a twist doesn't auto-qualify a game for being "art," just as M. Night Shyamalan has found with his own film efforts.
