I was rockin' this game until I got to the last bonfire in Lost Izalith—already have the other three Lord souls.  I'm having the worst luck with that Prowling Demon on the bridge, and the Witch is making me want to cry.  :'(

Oops, beat the game and didn't even mean to.

edit: Really dumb, actually, because I missed all the DLC content.  I walked through the fog wall in the Kiln area like, this can't be all—right?  and figured I had far too many souls on me let him kill me without trying a little.  Didn't think for a second the game would just jump to New Game+ without a prompt of some sort (which, in retrospect, is a terribly silly presumption to have made).  Oh well—gotta reason to play it again in a month or two.

Now that you've beaten it once, it will be much easier to get to the Lordvessel (where you'll need to be to access the DLC). I also forgot to finish the DLC content before I beat the game, but if you do it right you can ring both bells in the span of about 90 minutes. I hope you bought the Master Key from Domhnall, or chose it as your starting gift. You can skip the entirety of the depths and nearly all of Blighttown that way.

I already did both those things in my New Game+, actually.  Neither of those portions of the game take very long or are particularly annoying with the right equipment (cursebite ring, spider shield/rusted iron ring, respectively).  I needed to go down in the Depths to free that pyromancer fella, anyway (or I thought I did at the time).  I'm mostly annoyed by the prospect of fighting fatty and skinny again in Anor Londo.

Yeah :-\ I got lucky on my NG+ and the dude I summoned kept coming back to help me with that fight. If you're spec'd right, using the Zweihander makes it considerably easier (the heavy attack will stagger Ornstein), you just have to be patient. High level sorcery will wipe them out no problem, but you gotta have the int for that.

I've been messing around on my level 1 character and when I realized I'd have to take those guys on with a club I kinda lost all my steam.

Well, people have beaten them at SL1. I dunno if someone has put up a Youtube of soloing them alone without summons, but it's possible.

Not that I'd do it because frankly fuck that fight. :( Reason why I can't agree with the "Dark Souls is better than Demon's Souls" people. Even the maneaters in Demon's Souls it doesn't completely fuck you on stepping through the fog gate and has one of them rush you instead of both of them from the get-go.

I'm kicking ass this play though.  I'm 5 hours in and in the last one I was at the same spot at 12 hours in (stopped playing at 18hours).  How much of an affect does the soft humanity have to stats boosts?  Also what is the red symbol on my equipment mean/do?

Where do I go after dark root garden?  I can't make it to the hydra without dying, in the tower thing a black night dude hid behind the door then one shot killed me, and the drake valley first enemy killed me easily as well.

Next step is to go through Blighttown and ring to 2nd bell, to open the gate to Sens Fortress

found the depths yet? You get there via lower undead burg, then you battle through the depths then blighttown. If you have the Master Key you can also shortcut through the New Londo ruins to get through all that shit super quick

If you plan on leveling up continuously until you beat the game, always, ALWAYS ascend it to +15. Elemental damage is a joke compared to the damage bonus from stat scaling. If you've given Andrei the large ember, you can get your Zwei to +10 with the right materials, and you will stomp on S&O's saggy balls with it.

EDIT: I'd finish Anor Londo now that you're there, because you will get a very useful ability once you beat the area boss. But after that, I recommend exploring everywhere and doing as much as you can before you start to collect Lord Souls.

Don't be silly.

Go Sorcerer and put every point into Intelligence and maybe a few in Attunement. Buy every sorcery you see and before you hit level 50, you'll be three-shotting bosses. If that's what you mean by power through. But if you want to try your hand at the excellent melee combat, yes, Pyromancer is the best to start with because you begin at level 1 with fantastic stats.

Is that it as far as sorcerers go?  How about vitality/endurance?

If you want, I went all int and attunement for a specific PVP build at low level, but if you feel like putting points in there, go for it. Alternatively you can kill Lautrec early on and get the Ring of Favor and Protection, which will boost your health and stamina for free, but if you remove the ring it breaks.

The key thing as a sorcerer is that you shouldn't be getting hit ever. You will be limited to light armor and have a fast roll, and casting spells doesn't use stamina, so it's always there to use if you wanna get out of a sticky situation.

There are some items that will boost sorceries that are definitely worth getting, too. There is a sorcerer you can free from the Lower Undead Burg who will sell you the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, and there's a hat called the Crown of Dusk that you get after finishing a side-quest of sorts. I'd just look it up because it's pretty obtuse, and you can get it before you ring the first bell.

I beat  Lautrec and didn't get his armor (in Lando)?

Also I can not beat the fucking bosses at the end of this level.  I've been trying for 3 hours.  Everytime I go human some asshole kills me while getting to the boss.  Fucking people.

I had that exact same problem in that area on my last playthrough—that area has turned into a PvP haven and it's just awful if you're a PvE build.  Try summoning some help at the bonfire rather than at the fog wall, OR unplug your ethernet cord and play offline where you can still summon Sunbro to act as much needed cannon fodder, however temporary.  His sign is in the room with the two huge tower knights and silver knight archer (just up one of the short staircases in the center of the room), and you'll need to kill them all before summoning him if you want him to follow you.

Lautrec's armor is on a corpse in Andor Londo after you beat him; either in the corner of the room with the giant painting and white ninjas, or on the top floor in the corner of the room where you're fighting fatty and skinny—I forget which.  It's not that good, anyway.

PREFERABLY IF YOU FOUND HAVEL'S ARMOUR IN ANOR LONDO. ALSO HIS RING SO YOU CAN RUN FAST AND MAINTAIN STAMINA.

You have to be able to handle a very hard hit that will take away a lot of health. So the heavy Havel armour is the best for it.

Reason being, you need to be doing a lot of damage as fast as possible because they spawn on set timers. Dodging around wastes time.

I went around through the back entrance [where all the drakes are], then went up the elevator and out along the wall, then I found a good place to jump down to the ground. Put me pretty close to the entrance and let me avoid most of the enemies that hang around that area.
