The PS3 game I'm most excited about in 2011 is Yakuza 4 :rock

And The Last Guardian if that comes out.

What ARE the 360 exclusives of 2011, besides Gears3 and the superior versions of multiplats, that is.

Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets, Daifukkatsu Black Label + Daifukketsui, and I'd bet money on an Akai Katana port for fall 2011.

360 has another year on lockdown.

I'm betting those are either shmups of waifu simulators. Are they getting released outside of Japan?

Just googled those games. I almost killed myself when the results showed up.

almost?!? damn, we were so close :(

No idea about the X360 line up for 2011 - MS aren't desperate so we won't get to know what is coming until feb.

Nah, MS aren't desperate. They invested $500.000.000 on Kinect just "for fun"

The biggest X360 releases in 2010 are probably going to be Kinect games. Like that Panzer Dragoon game etc. Gone is Xbox 360. Welcome to Xbox Kinect.

A shmup of a waifu simulator. Now that would be an awesome game. :P

MMP+PS, no it's not, but it is region free so anyone can play it. DFK with Black Label DLC will probably get localized, but who knows. I don't see the Ketsui arrange mode coming out in the west. If AK does get ported in the fall, it will surely be JP only, at least until 2012.

I was half-joking when I made that post anyway, since I know only 5 or 6 people here will be playing them.

So LBP2 in Jan, Killzone 3 in Feb/March, Infamous 2 in spring, Resistance 3 in Sept, Uncharted 3 in November

Motorstorm 3 at some point.

not bad at all

do these fit in with your acceptable windows for follow ups as per Mass Effect ? ;)

Sure  ;)  I said in the ME thread that I find 2 year dev cycles to be the standard this gen.  My worry with ME is that it's more like 1.5 years if you take account of the ME2 DLC.  Plus there's just an expectation that rpgs should have longer dev periods because they are bigger games with more content than say a linear FPS.

That being said, Killzone 3 always seemed a bit too soon considering the long gap between KZ1 -> KZ2.  Infamous 2 is taking their sweet 3 year time, Resistance 3 skipped a year to "give it more care" and is getting a 3 year dev cycle instead of 2.

So LBP2 in Jan, Killzone 3 in Feb/March, Infamous 2 in spring, Resistance 3 in Sept, Uncharted 3 in November

for me :
who cares
as long as the levels don't suck balls
who cares
who cares
and
OH HELL YES
in that order

For me:
sequel to the best game on ps3, very excited
who cares, looks shit
omg yes, Infamous was a lot of fun
wait and see
can't wait, naughty dog games rock
and for motorstorm 3: looking forward to it, PR was fun and I like city racing with paths that change like split/second (hopefully with less bullshit AI this time)

Other 2011 PS3 exclusives:
Disgaea 4: wait and see
Ryu ga Gotoku OF THE END: hahaha, want this
new HD Tales of: omgggg
Zettai Zetsumei 4: hope it's good
Journey: wait and see

For X360 lineup:
Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets: omg want
DDP Black Label: don't really care since it's just a new arrange mode but will buy and play for a few days
Bangai-o: want, although if it's just a remake of the DS game don't want
Gears 3: zzzz
Forza 4: zzzz
everything Kinect: zzzz

Wii lineup:
Zelda: don't care after spirit tracks, but will play it and maybe give up on the franchise if it sucks
The Last Story: want want want

I've seriously thought about getting rid of my 360 and getting a PS3 instead.  I'm just afraid that I need a pre-frontal lobotomy like many other PS3 only owners.

The way I see it, I have until about mid-way through 2011 to get through the bulk of my 360 backlog. At that point I'd assume the PS3 will get a price drop and I'll just grab it then. By the end of next year, PS3's must-buy exclusive will add up to a pretty awesome game library, and it's even better they're all really cheap.

I enjoyed U2 quite a bit but I could see why some gamers, especially those who don't care much for high production values, didn't find it particularly impressive.  Though much improved from the first game, combat elements such as control, hit-detection, AI, etc, are still B level at best.  The platforming is even more lacking.  It's fun to watch Drake perform his acrobatic feats but actually controlling him in those segments isn't particularly fun or challenging.
yeah...I don't mean to sound overly critical but U2 really didn't feel that fun as far platforming and shooting.  It was better than the first game which was like a semi-interactive animation tech demo but it still just didn't give much feedback to the player when it comes to the jumping around and shooting.  I couldn't get into it at all.

In my book, the ranking of cover based shooters goes R6: Vegas>Gears>Uncharted.  Haven't played Vanquish tho.

I love R6Vegas, even the lesser sequel.  Are they making a 3rd one?

Is GRAW on the consoles similar?  I got the game but I still haven't tried it.

I heard they're going to release the next Rainbow Six game after the new Ghost Recon so maybe sometime in late 2011?

GRAW on consoles did have cover in singleplayer but not in multiplayer or co-op.  They probably couldn't figure out a way to balance it.

Do they ever.

If you've ever seen a casual or a person new to videogames attempt to use a dual analog in a fps game or even worse a mouse and keyboard, its a completely frustrating experience for them. That's why motion control in comparison is so effective for these type of people. And why I don't tend to shit on motion controls like most hardcore gamers do. It's not for me of course but neither are regular controls for a lot of people.

I don't know if it was intentional or not but even the designer was missing headshots.  Aim sensitivity is one of my main problems with Uncharted.  I could never get it to feel right.

- looks totally like Uncharted 2

But with motion controls, you need to separate pointing from waggle... The pointer is an extremely effective control scheme for certain hardcore genres (Sin and Punishment 2 was amazing to play with the Wii's pointer capability, and there have been quite a few Wii FPS that work really nicely with pointer+nunchuck)... but waggle is for the most part, a horrible and tacked-on control scheme.

Certainly there are far worse implementations of motion control in some games than others. And if motion control is done extremely badly its even worse than traditional controls. But if its done properly ala Wii sports and such its a much better experience for casuals than hardcore gaming ever will be.

I'm totally nonplussed as well, and I loved U2. We knew it was in development, we knew it would look really nice and be scripted as fuck...we know that it will probably have a ton of different environments so getting too high or too low about whatever they show is dumb as a box of rocks...where does the excitement (positive or negative) come from here?
