I actually liked how the Wii U looked last E3. People expressed concern because it looked too much like the regular Wii and customers would dismiss it something something worrying about companies.

The only thing I'd really want changed from last E3 is analog sticks instead of analog sliders. I'm not pushing my luck by expecting a drastically different screen.

I just think the Wii U needs its own identity, and it isn't getting that with the way the console currently looks nor its name and branding. Those parts should be re-tooled if Nintendo wants to correct perceptions it's just a Wii peripheral.

I do read the gaming threads from time to time even tho I usually wait until things(systems and games) are released before I form an opinion.

I honestly do not know how I feel about the controller. I think I will have to try it at a demo station, kind of like how I did for vita. I didn't think I would like the vita but last weekend when I finally tried it out I could see the appeal. Thanks to the demo I might end up getting a vita sometime this year.

Haven't played a vita. i've played a 3ds though, and i really hate the 3d, but it seems like an improvement on the ds. of course, the only games i've played are mario kart and starfox so I'm pretty ignorant on the system as a whole.

If I had a kid I'd be pro-Nintendo. They don't really make family friendly games on consoles anymore. I mean, they do, but they're rare. I'm talking about GOOD ones btw. It's completely different from when we were kids and there were a lot of options you could go for.

Honestly, if I had a kid and they wanted to play video games I'd only go the pc route unless they wanted Nintendo stuff.

I won't stop my kids from playing whatever games they want so long as they're family friendly, up to a certain age. I definitely don't want to be those types who has their kid playing a fucking 35 year old game because the parent is a nostalgia addled fucktwat while the kid isn't experiencing the kind of games his or her friends play. On the other hand, I am not going to purchase Call of Duty or its equivalent for a kid under the age of 12.

I don't even know if I want kids so I don't know why I'm talking about this.

I think there's a difference between cartoony 2d sprites in Duke Nukem 3d, which I got when I was 11, and the more realistic Call of Duty, Phoenix Dark.

Hell, I played Mortal 1-3 when they released in arcades, but today's Mortal Kombat isn't something I'd want a kid under the age of 10 to play. There's a line between a cartoony depiction, and an "realistic" depiction of someone ripping another's heart out in x-ray view.

I was in junior high when Doom came out. Aside from Castle Wolfenstein, I can't think of being exposed to anything extremely graphic as a kid.

Cartoony depiction? Sir, those were digitized sprites of real actors in Mortal Kombat. I dare say it's more realistic than today's Mortal Kombat.

Maybe I'm being too hard on games today. From games I played last year I'd let a kid play Skyrim, Dynasty Warriors 7, and maybe Batman: Arkham City. I say maybe to Batman because some of the dialogue is really what the fuck, because the inmates say they'd like to rape Catwoman any time you play as her. But if you enforce that it's a bad thing, I wouldn't see any problem with it. I'd let a kid play the Mass Effect games. Despite being rated M, I find the content in those games pretty light. Speaking of which, the games I'm looking forward to right now are Final Fantasy XIII-2, Warriors Orochi 3, SSX, and Mass Effect 3. I'd let a kid play all of those.

So maybe I really am getting old.

the arcade fatalities for mk2 are a bit more graphic that its console counterparts, but i agree. a person exploding into femurs and hands is pretty damn ridiculous to the point that it becomes comical( but barakas second fatality... damn im suprised that second gasp made it) something about the slow motion used in the new mk series combined with the way the characters move and struggle as they are being killed is far worse than sprites moving at 10 frames a second exploding into random body parts.
