New mod, or have I just not noticed before? Not at all familiar with Gromph, some stalking of his post history makes him look like a big MMO person which is probably why I haven't run into him before. But then again, Kabouter and I's taste run parallel and I've even seen him around for example before his modding.

Gromph was the admin EviLore added when he was implementing the new features like multi-quote and the return of search. I'm not terribly up on moderation politics, but it's my understanding that system admins really don't have a hand in moderation. I could be wrong on that.

In the same breath, GAF is big enough and post-rate is high enough for trash threads to be 4 pages deep in under 10 minutes. This really isnt an issue for moderation, it's an issue with the community since they choose to post in and bump trash threads.

It's like I said with the poll threads, heavy handed moderation is not the answer here. This is what GAF is. If your community is popularizing, posting in and bumping shit threads means your community is shit. No amount of moderation will ever change that (save from just banning everyone that posts in those)

When it leads to replacing one or two words and creating ten new threads, shitpost -> ding dong bannu.

Of course you'd end up with moderators abusing it as a means of having the last word, but that happens with every system and GAF is no stranger to it.
