I've been to Grants Pass, McMinville, Eugene and Portland. I liked Portland. Not much else to say about the rest, except I found an antique store in Grants Pass full of old communist propaganda, Mammy dolls, old racist ads and war posters.

My comments are this: The reason the GAF sports threads have become insular is because new communities have become lobbyist groups that seek to influence moderation and policy in a way that attacks them. Sports threads were commonly full of posters who posted in the rest of the forum. DM, Ninja, myself, Shinobi, and others. Many have either stopped potsting, barely post, or stayed inside the sports threads because the rest of the forum has been allowed to become so shitty. The idea that the sports thread create the hostility and are being insular for no reason is ridiculous.

Yep, it's fucking terrible, ruined by people who come into the sports threads once a year and don't understand what's going on, then complain about it.

I thought those avatars that some of the members there have were stupid. Yet I knew it was such an insular community and that the avatars that the members would have were part of their GAF identity. So I'd just save, rehost, and then use their avatars as my own. To my amusement, every once in a while I'd get a pissy PM demanding that I get rid of my avatar.

Good times. It almost makes me miss GAF. Well, not really.

PS4 will probably be a monster, 360 less so but they'll be more comparable than either to Wii U. That doesn't really matter to me. The fact remains all three consoles next gen will have the same maximum output resolution. That levels the playing field far more than it was last gen.

problem with 3D, or the second screen on the Wii U, is that you're sectioning off the potential power for the machines. supposedly the Wii U controller is 854x480, plus the 1920x1080 for the main monitor (unless 720p is still what they're going for). also curious if running games on the screen alone will be smoother. Tomb Raider Legend on the 360 ran better if you set it to output at 480p.

I'm really interested to see how Wii U's second screen is used. I always thought dual screens on a portable were wasteful but there's a lot of potential for the Wii U.

I could be wrong, but there's probably not much of a story there. He wouldn't be the only person from GAF to deride this place. Some people -- regardless of whether or not they've spent any real amount of time here -- perceive this to be an also-ran spinoff comprised of people who couldn't hack it in the big leagues and think the best course of action is to denounce it so as to help (or at least not hurt) their standing at GAF.

I understand the derision. There are plenty of GAF off shoots, and most GAFers are more familiar with stuff like OA or WYL. The perception is that every off shoot is either some crazy nsfw haven or a place where people bitch about GAF. It doesn't help that these people only post in or read this thread.

Obviously I'm biased but I truly believe EB has created one of the best forum communities I've seen online. We had one bumpy era but that was ages ago, everyone now gets along with each other, hell we don't really have any legit "bad" posters anymore. Thomas Lane comes to mind but he's been neutered to oblivion
