i didn't really alter my posting style when i had an alt. what got me banned was a "would" post in a thread i forgot what i was about. it was perm so i guess they knew and just waited for an excuse.

Other giveaways are things like people who post the exact same opinions on games on GAF under their alt and then on their Twitter as their regular persona or here, ip addresses, psn/xbl names, dates of birth, email addresses, stuff like that.

Usually the first hint, though, is that they hit up the same topics and write in a similar style. That leads to extra investigation of that other stuff. Your writing style is almost like a finger print if the right person looks at it, and GAF has at least two people on their moderation staff who are very very good at that stuff.

gaf's alt forensics team is csi-worthy. #ga was a hotbed of poster analysis, and they caught 90% of the oa idjits reliably.

The biggest problem I see in his routine is the derailment, because his arguments more often than not hold merit, not to mention being sharp and witty.

On the other hand, people who usually take the bait are so quick to use your standard, stock defense (usually of consoles), and miserably falter doing so. That's from my limited experience. It's always a circus of knee jerk reactions.

Another problem is his had the same routine for a couple of years now, it lost any sense of power or outrage ages ago.

I do remember after one encounter with him on Gaf, Red Scarlett PM'ed me saying that she couldn't stand his PC brigade type posts, i linked her to a post he had made earlier comparing a PC game with no dedicated servers to a rape victim, he was banned shortly after that for a fairly long time.

No seriously, I think the main reason why is that most college students believe their Marketing or Sociology majors will net them $60,000+ a year salaries once they graduate. If they believe they will get them, why bust their ass in very unrewarding majors (STEM) when they can get paid and be able to cruise the bars four nights a week? Most college students believe they are the exception until it's time to graduate and find a job.

I don't get those criticisms. I'll admit I was frustrated with no Tyrion at first but no Tyrion chapters gave him a near ethereal quality when Cersei saw him in every corner. I'll start on ADWD before long I think too.

AFFC is the best written book in the series. ADWD clearly suffered from some rushed editing but it's very good

ADWD is a book that's best read right after finishing AFFC, so good timing. ADWD also makes AFFC even better, retroactively.

I have never ever seen Kabouter the mod before ever, nor have I ever seen him post on GAF.
