You watched yugioh? what? I was talking about Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Pinky and The Brain, Earthworm Jim and when they decided to show Batman. You know good cartoons!

Don't forget Road Rovers, Superman, Tiny Toons, Men in Black, and The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries.

In the last decade, they phased out WB cartoons with animu crap.  That animu crap is probably the only thing Andrex is aware of.

I got most of my favorite non-animu cartoons from Nick, and a bit from CN. Doug, Courage, Ed/Edd/Eddy, Hey Arnold, AYAOTD, Rugrats, Angry Beavers, Cat Dog, Kablam, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, Megas XLR. Lots of things I remember fondly that may not hold up well today but I will always have a soft spot for because it was what I grew up with.

Oh and Toonami goes without saying. :bow2

Andrex is like "Hey guys, have you seen The Looney Tunes Show? This Bugs Bunny character is really funny!"

In all honesty, I watched a TON of Looney Tunes when I was younger, but never laughed at it.

You thought I was going to say something good about the new one right? Well I won't, because it's absolutely terrible.

What I will say is that I laugh a hell of a lot more at old Looney Tunes shorts now than I ever did as a kid. As a kid I just sort of accepted how wacky it was, but now I realize how absurd some of the jokes are. Seems like my sense of humor has gotten better over the years.

I think I only saw like half an ep of this. I never watched the Disney channel or whatever else all that other stuff used to air on. I do remember Swat Kats but all I remember is the opening music was awesome.

Edit- No wait, I did watch Duck Tales and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.

The ones in bold are still awesomely awesome.

Dunno about Angry Beavers but I'm mildly certain Rugrats still holds up. As for the rest, agreed. Especially Hey Arnold and Courage, which I didn't think would. (Samurai Jack/Dexter's Lab goes without saying because hey, Tartokovsky.)

I remember sneaking into the basement every Saturday morning to watch cartoons. Batman TAS, X-Men, Spider-Man, Animaniacs, Goosebumps, and Power Rangers were our favorites. Then Pokemon, the Batman & Superman cartoon, MIB, etc joined the list.

even as a kid there was this totally obvious gap in quality to me

you'd see this gorgeously animated early stuff with round fat little jerry and round headed tom and these beautiful backgrounds and it was great and heart warming at the end, then one with the annoying 60s intro would start and it was the worst animation, music, and sound effects ever

Funniest old cartoon: Tom And Jerry. And no I'm not talking about the shitty versions(lord knows there's a lot of them) I'm talk about the real one where you can feel all the booms and bangs that happen.

Tom and Jerry is good but it's wholly dependent on who's doing the show running. I prefer Hannah-Barbera Tom and Jerry to say Chuck Jones, 50's/60's Tom and Jerry despite being a Chuck Jones fanboy.

Also, Looney Tunes just outclasses Tom and Jerry in every single way, though T&J is classic.

looney tunes >>>>

To be honest, Daffy Duck single-handedly makes Looney Tunes better than the rest. Nothing better than a good Daffy Duck cartoon. Mayyyyybe a Daffy and Porky team up.

I think they were trying to take a note from Pink Panther, honestly.

As for the historicity, 60's era more than likely took a note from Hannah-Barbera's revolutionary limited animation model, which was all the rave at the time. That said, Chuck Jones was a stanch critic towards limited animation so I doubt that's it.

Yeah, you gotta remember the old H-B Tom and Jerry shorts were animated for movie theaters. Hence, they had a larger budget.

In the 60s budgets were cut as movie companies weren't willing to pay as much for new shorts to show in front of films, and the home tv market hadn't been established yet.  There was also a rising sentiment that violence and other things needed to be pulled back, so creatively animators were struggling against the new rules.

That's kinda what I figured yeah. Still amusing that Chuck Jones made T&J, considering Roadrunner was supposed to be a parody of how dumb the genre had gotten.
