Adele is also very much liked because she has a real singing talent, and she's on top of the charts because of it. I have no idea if she writes her own songs, but the singing is incredible. She's also not depending on distinguished mentally-challenged childish dancing (like Beyoncé), stupid costumes (kate perry/lady gaga), her songs are not gimmicky (Beyonce/kate perry/laddy gaga). She also didnt have the pity factor that Rihanna had (and lost this week with the release of her song). Her songs are mature and come off as sincere. No fake messages about acceptante (gaga/perry), and so on.
Amy Winehouse also had a very similar following, but her personal demons took over her life and for the later part of her career, she was mostly in the medias for her sad performances. Her incredible rendition of 'Valerie' is, in my opinion, one of the most touching song of the past decade.
Adele is making pop music interesting, and intelligent again. Thats why she is getting so much air play; people are fucking happy that its not some gimmick once again. We've been stuck with gimmick singers since the '90, and finally we get someone with mature songs; no catchphrases and with music not aimed at teenage girls playlists.
I'd totally ask her out too! She seems like a fun woman!
