In general I don't mind most fanboyism because it's tied to a specific work.  The thing is we've reached a point where companies themselves have become the object.  I mean you can find people on the internet who will defend corporate strategies, advertising campaigns, "branding" and labor practices of a large multi-national corporation.  It's sad, really.

Thats incorrect. Shonen is the introductory and most popular genre of manga/anime. People who get stuck in that genre are generally immature, not very knowledgeable and fiercely butthurt when their beloved Naruto/Bleach/DragonBall is called out for the bullshit it is. Moe is something you have to actively seek out as it's a small subset of j-media consumers (dont believe me, go check the reader stats for the most read manga (one piece - shonen) and see how far down you have to dip to get to moe shit) The result of this is Moe fans are generally more knowledgeable about the media as a whole and it's easier to strike up a conversation about random stuff like Kobayashi Gin, Togashi etc than with the entrenched Naruto/Bleach/One Piece only crowd. They have the weirdest most disturbing fantasy conversations about their beloved series. Moe lovers at least know other stuff(overall) and realize(overall) their chosen genre is mostly devoid of quality.

I don't know. Most of the DLC drama these days seems to rest simply on outrage about whether or not it's unlock codes for crap already on the disc. Personally, I find most of the arguments to be people spinning their wheels for an issue that -- to me -- misses the point entirely. So much of the discrepancy seems to be based on whether or not the additional content was ready to ship on launch day, with the obvious implication that if it's on the disc, it ostensibly is.

My stance is just that all early (let's say the first month at least) additional content should be viewed in the same light. Either you think it's a ripoff or you don't. The mechanism for delivering that content seems largely beside the point.
