RIP to any internet denizens who've passed away recently.
I have a story to share. I was having an entirely impersonal, civil, and reasonable conversation in a
gfaqs thread.
I went into detail explaining my opinion in a completely civil manner and it should be regarded as a respectable one. Unfortunately, some fanboys couldn't handle my opinions and started raging at me and insulting me completely unprovoked. They were using the usual childish nonsense, trying to strawman my opinion out of proportion and attack it, making completely false accusations about things I've never said, using fallacies, failed e-psychology/mind reading, and making unprovoked personal attacks. These are not respectable forms of argument in any way.
I defend myself, telling them they're being extremely rude and childish fanboys, pointing out their logical fallacies, strawmen, false accusations, etc. If you don't think those posters were being childish fanboys, I'd love to know what a fanboy is.
Then Shouta who's a neogaf mod posts "I don't know why you guys even bother arguing with him though I guess it is fun to kill time while waiting for the game." He's arrogantly insulting and dismissing me as if nothing I had to say had any worth or merit and that I'm some kind of unreasonable, raving lunatic. So apparently it's ok to fanboy rage at someone for their impersonal and civilly expressed opinion, and then arrogantly say they're not worth arguing with when they defend themselves. It's shameful for someone who claims to be a "moderator".
