PC version

I tried that on my PC and you cannot read that message because it's literally over in a nanosecond.

Gabe is just trolling plebes with slow PCs, or more possibly macs, saying you might as well be playing the console version if you are able to read this message. D

edit: also, real PC gamers use quicksave -- that message is clearly only meant for consoletard consumption; those who are not familiar with keyboard maps - help them feel at ease while playing PC games

I like the instructions in that article -- Bring up console and type yadda yadda to play Super 8 game.

Or, if you don't want to memorize map names or fucking bring up the console, you can also just click on 'Extras' in the main menu and it's right there.

I played the first 15 mins on PS3 and then on PC.  Why do I want to play this on my PS3??

The PS3 version has this really nice motion blur that makes it look CG-ish like GoW.  My PC version has no blur at all that I can find.  The PS3 version also has better sound on my setup.  The PC version runs at a WAY better framerate (60fps vs. 20-30fps) and sharper textures.

Might play this on PS3.

I played co op with a friend who had the PS3 version and it worked perfectly.  I was surprised to see voice chat actually work between the two platforms.  Valve put in a ton of effort on this game.  :bow2

I really don't know how you could do some of the last co-op missions on a console. They took pinpoint accuracy and without text chat or voice caht I'd say it's impossible

played about 40 minutes on my macbook pro this morning. It runs surprisingly well, much better than the original or TF2, and it looks better than both as well. funfunfun.

Is it heresy if I don't fall over myself with laughter whenever GlaDOS speaks? This overt snarkyness she's got going on in the early parts of the game is a little eye rolling. I did enjoy Stephen Merchant's character though - but I am a bit of a stan.

I got home early and have been playing the game. Maybe about an hour or two in. I enjoy the game but as I've said before I sort of don't really wet myself over this game like a lot of people do. Not meant as a diss.

I mean I like it. It's a fun puzzle game and there is nothing wrong with that but my mind isn't blown by the puzzles nor do I cry with laughter everytime Glados insults me. Good game though so far. It feels like a big budget extension of the first game although I'm not necessarily sure I needed a big budget puzzle game. Whenever I play portal it sorts of feels like watching an art house movie that I think is enjoyable but everybody else thinks is life altering. But then I have the same feeling with a lot of pixar movies which somebody mentioned earlier. But to be fair like I said I'm only a couple of hours in.

Going to spoiler this because it's vague yet spoilerish at the same time.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I started to miss the sterile, white settings of the original test chambers about 2 hours in, thinking the new chambers were just too dark and lacked character. Then when you I was put in the undamaged chamber, it made me miss the new ones and all their moving parts.

I was also thinking during stage 4 and 5 there had been less emphasis on using momentum with portals, and then it comes in spades in stage 6.

Hey look, a reason Methodis was changed to The Worst Poster Ever.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Because the 1950s parts were fucking amazing.  And the first time I heard the name "Caroline", I flipped my shit.  I would venture to say most people did this, but when you're on the conveyor belt of scrapped turrets, you can pick up one that's says "I'm different" and rescue it, and it will say some things to you.  One of those things is "Her name is Caroline.  Remember that."  So when I heard someone with that name that sounded similar to GLADoS, I spazzed.  I was so excited.  The only way that could have gotten better for me was if there was actually a video sequence or projector or something set up of Cave Johnson and Caroline, maybe an easter egg or something.

Found the gel and the movement wave levels to be really weak. Now in the escape levels the gel worked a bit better, and still they did some great stuff with the lasers and light bridge levels.

Really enjoyed it in the end after getting slightly frustrated with the number of needless test chambers at the end.

I'll probably wait a week or so before trying co-op, I've had enough of test chambers for now.

Co-op levels are great. They focus a lot more on puzzle-solving and all that than the main game does, and adds the dynamic of being able to field two sets of portals at once. Definitely worth playing, as long as you can find someone who knows what they're doing.

Fortunately, InfectedGib is one such person.  :)

I imagine the time spent looking around in new test chambers going  "hmmm..." will only increase further in the game. Some really clever puzzles already - it's great that they don't just recycle puzzle ideas from the single-player.

Had a couple of brain fart moments in co-op. Like, I'm thinking too hard and trying to make a jump from light bridge to light bridge and dying a couple of time instead of just walking through the portal to get to the second bridge.

Lots of moments where I think too hard and miss the obvious. :lol

Wheatley's grating British mannerisms and GlaDOS's newfound "personality" are off-putting, but the most important change to this is how Aperture feels like a real place, instead of a series of tunnels.

you could say the sliding crate was a sort of new mechanic, and we didn't know the bridges would stay up if you blocked the lasers for even a second, so I think we can blame the puzzle designers a little for that one lol
