T2 however was pretty decent. The one problem that movie has is pacing. It drags because there's a section where it's nothing but human characters and it's so boring, but after that it's nuts.

refer to Transformers 2 as "T2" again and i will drag your balls out through your esophagus

Really cool movie for fans of the previous ones. It definitely has the best action/fight scenes of all 3.

Murder Prime is Best Prime though.
Yes! The autobots are pretty fucking evil during fights even though they're the "good" guys. :lol

He and Bumblebee easily had the best kills. Who was that red Autobot with the blades?

Pretty awesome movie.  Great action.  3D wasn't as noticeable as I was hoping, but at least it wasn't distractingly bad like I feared.  Action is pretty well paced so you won't get too annoyed with the human characters.  New chick has a great ass.

A bit of lulz for the haters:

Transformers 2 opening day = $62 million

Transformers 3 opening day = $37 million

spoiler (click to show/hide)
They both opened on Wednesday.

wow.  That's kinda crazy low.  The 3D IMAX showings at my theater had a sign last night as I was leaving that said Transformers 3D Imax Experience was sold out til next Tuesday.

The gap is also a bit wider considering that Transformers 2 didn't have the benefit of the 3D premium.

Optimus vs Sentinel Prime was a pretty great scene.
What.... WHAT!!!.... HEY MAN F*CK YOU FOR SPOILING THAT!!! Man you just ruined my summer.

Just kidding. I knew that ahead of time. distinguished mentally-challenged twist in my opinion. I had to do it though.  :P

I only saw the first because my exposure to transformers began and ended with allusions stuffed into the Beast Wars cartoon series.  That is to say I was certainly curious.  I was treated to one of the worst movies of all time.  I was completely awestruck how many recommended what I struggled to find any redeeming value in.  Seeing the second was out of morbid curiousity, and I got exactly what I was searching for.  They somehow made it worse, the levels of inanity even warping spacetime to have them walk out of the smithsonian into the Arizona desert!

I pirated the first and watched two minutes of the second one on tv, might pirate this one and sell it in the office.

I think his name is Mirage.

Yea he's Mirage. The Autobot Merc is Wheeljack (he calls himself "Que" since he makes their gadgets), Soundwave is the Decepticon Merc. Really surprised to see non-GM cars in this one.

Does the subtitle make more sense after seeing the movie?  I mean, seriously - I want to know what that is supposed to mean.

You couldn't tell from the trailers that it was talking about the dark side of the moon?

Nearly kill a stuntwoman? Just replace her shots with shots from one of your other movies that no one saw!

Saw the movie tonight.  Massive clusterfuck of a film, but entertained by Michael Bay as the ultimate military porn auteur, and that Sam's mom is one of the greatest comedic creations of the past decade.

Otherwise:

Me:  Holy shit!  Sentinel Prime is Leonard Motherfucking Nimoy!
Sentinel Prime:  Optimus!  The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few!
Me:  Are you fucking kidding me?!  This is what passes for screenwriting in 2011?!  Just swipe classic lines from previous movies of your current actors and claim "homage"?  For fuck's sake....

Highlight of the film for me, as someone who studied Russian language in college, was:

(John Tuturro's character approaches door of Russian club)
Tuturro: Do svidonya
Me: (wait, that's "goodbye!")
Russian Bouncer: That means goodbye.
Me: BWAHAHAHAHA

Additional aside:

In this "modern era" of 3d, I have only seen two 3d films:  Avatar and Transformers 3.

I liked Avatar's 3d effects; I thought they were natural and well done.

In T3, I thought it was gawdawful and distracted from the experience.  If, as I suspect, the majority of 3d films fall closer to Transformers 3 than Avatar, I will definitely be going out of my way to find 2d showings, or waiting until Blu-Ray.  'Cause, FUCK, the 3D was useless and annoying in this flick.

lol what

the 3d effects in transformers 3 were  on par with the ones with avatar, if not better (this is the overwhelming consensus)

i wish the majority of films fell close to transformers 3 in regards to 3d

critics and even james cameron himself will tell you that the 3d in this movie is fantastic

the exact team that worked on the 3d in avatar worked on it with this film, james cameron even stopped by to give bay tips

I thought the 3D was good but there was something missing with it.  I didn't even notice it very often in Transformers 3 while in Avatar there were tons of WOW moments (like people using the computers or sitting in the mechs).  It wasn't bad by any means I just don't think it added anything of value to the experience.

That's pretty neat, reusing the shots and all.

It's a tribute. To Michael Bay. From himself.
