I really dislike Roger Goodell.  I think they should make some crazy old redneck like Jerry Glanville the next commissioner to undo all of the bullshit wussification that The Rog has brought unto my formerly gloriously violent league.
Quote
"We are all accountable and responsible for player health and safety and the integrity of the game. We will not tolerate conduct or a culture that undermines those priorities," said Goodell, whose league faces more than 20 concussion-related lawsuits brought by hundreds of former players.

Never going to happen.  Lawsuits are the biggest part of it.

Sure, whatever.  The problem is that they're trying to whitewash what is an essentially violent sport by trying to pretend that it's not.  Also, they're trying to lie to themselves and pretend it's not played by what are basically a bunch of dumb jocks who LIKE TO HURT PEOPLE, and that the public doesn't like that.  We do.  Stop fucking trying to tell me to like football for reasons other than that.  I like seeing a violent hit.  Whatever.

There's no question the league has gotten rather soft in a lot of areas. Big hits are often given fines, even when it's clear no malice was intended, or any laws broken.

and of course just touching an elite QB is an automatic penalty.

Jags were trying to snag him, Jets re-started talks with the Broncos and won out

After the initial video, a long debate between Skip and Stephen A Smith

There is no way Tebow can take hold of the Jets locker room. They will eat him alive. He'll have a nice defense to bail him out, but the Jets run game isn't as good as it once was. So everything will be on Tebow's shoulders

I had a dream last night that during the their first game of the season, the Jets were down 21-18 and kicking a field goal to tie at the end of regulation. Tim Tebow was brought out as a holder. There was a bad snap, and he scooped up the ball, running it into the endzone and winning the game, and then was carried off the field in a triumphant orgy of Tebowmania, and was immediately made the starting QB.

Was it just a dream...or was it a vision?

Quote
We learned through Detroit-area reports Monday that Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure has been cited twice this offseason for marijuana possession. The first came on Feb. 18, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, and the second was March 12. Leshoure paid a fine for this first citation, but was scheduled to be arraigned Monday for the second after he attempted to eat the marijuana to avoid a charge when stopped by police, according to the Free Press.

No, that final line is not a typo. But it's not as relevant as it seems as we consider the most important question raised by these episodes. Namely: How will they impact Leshoure's standing with the team and/or eligibility with the NFL?
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth

Just when you thought this story couldn't get worse: LeShore missed his court date today, and a warrant will be issued for his arrest. He's going to turn himself in tomorrow apparently.

This is a guy we traded up to take in the third round last year. He then blew out his ACL (admittedly not his fault) and missed the entire season. He followed that up by getting popped for weed TWICE in 30 days. Seriously?

Our run game is in serious peril. Jahvid Best is probably a concussion away from forced retirement, Kevin Smith is good but hasn't proven he can stay healthy, now LeShore - who was supposed to be healthy and our main RB this year - will most likely get suspended by God-dell. This is just depressing, especially considering the team seems interested in drafting another RB. You can't waste picks on RBs when you have as many holes the Lions have. We need to fix the offense and defensive lines, and the secondary.

New Seahawk uniforms unveiling tomorrow :omg

Should be interesting to see what Nike came up with.  A t-shirt with an image of the new helmet surfaced this afternoon showing some kind of carbon fiber stripe running down the middle of it.  Not sure what to think about that.

Since all the picks are slotted as far as salary goes, teams really don't give a shit about trading so much.  There's also a LOT of teams that need a LOT of help, so they're trying to stock up as many picks as possible.
