Perfect response.

If it had been this level of screenshot for a new DOA:XBV title, what .gif would you have chosen?

both of these series are dead to me.

ng black is probably my favorite score attack game of all time.  and 90% of the people who played probably didn't even know about the scoring system.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is disgusting.

Only one Ninpo and one weapon through the whole game (story mode).

NG3 was obviously going to be awful ever since the first footage came out at E3 or whatever. It's too bad, since that means there may never be another action game that has combat that's on par with NG2. Oh well, the genre's dead anyway.

DOA5 I'm still mildly interested in.

NG3 will still be better than 'DmC'. NG with one weapon is still better than 90% of action games anyway. Still a bargain-bin pickup, tho.

But this is Team Ninja Dog's NG with one weapon. If this were Itagaki, Ehara, and the rest of the veterans, then I'd be inclined to agree. But no, it's gonna be terrible.

RRXX felt almost incomplete due to the lack of a story mode.  Plus the CAW sucked, especially for a wrasslin' game.  Would love to see a new one though.  The most fun I've had with wrestling games has been all the wacky Rumble Roses/Def Jam/Kinnikuman games.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39975/The_world_has_changed_Team_Ninjas_Hayashi_on_more_realistic_respectful_games.php

Quote
"The old team was known for making games that just had two primary elements: Sex and violence," Hayashi tells Gamasutra. "It was very obvious. The new team, we want to take it to a new level -- to a direction that contains emotional experiences that can move players."

"Rather than just having violence for the sake of violence and cheap thrill, we wanted to give meaning to violence: Why does this happen? We want to link emotion to violence." With Ninja Gaiden 3, he says, "we wanted to make a game that is for mature audiences, that can make adults think."

With a longstanding action franchise, the team has room to flex those muscles and explore that goal. But Dead or Alive has always seemed a brand just as interested in showcasing sparsely-clad, busty pinup fighters as in providing a fighting game experience -- if not more so.

"We've always had the sex factor in the game; in the past, the female characters had to have big breasts, they had to have scanty dress," says Hayashi. "In DoA 5 especially, we're trying to focus on the real women that surround us; the voice of a female, the mannerisms. We are being realistic about it."

If Team Ninja's goal truly is to dignify the Dead or Alive franchise a bit, then it seems the team risks alienating some fans who may have just tuned in for the flesh parade. But Hayashi feels confident that longtime DoA players might have grown up some over the years.

"In the series up to now we focused on some kind of... Sports Illustrated [aesthetic]. like a magazine for high school kids, with women portrayed in that sense. But that's not what we want," he asserts.

"We want to show something that's more high class, that adult males of our generation could look at a woman [character] and be impressed with her as a woman, not just as a pin-up," he continues. "That's what we wanted to tell our fans."

This guy...

I wish they would've released a demo. If Team Ninja Dog is good at anything, it's releasing demos with lots of content.

I hope the game is short too. 6-8 hours would be nice. I don't think I'll want to play this more than 3 times, so the shorter the better.

Well, the original NG was already good so that's nothing to be surprised about (though Sigma wasn't Perfect).

DOA5 looks mighty fine while this is...I don't know.

The people who praise the Sigmas over the originals are of a certain different caliber in comparison with fans who have been with the franchise since the Xbox days.

As for DOA5, was cautiously expecting, saw Akira and hype began, saw new Ayane vs. Hitomi video and am now scared again. I really hope DOA5 turns out good as a fighter, if only to justify all those people who claim it was all Itagaki's fault that DOA never reached its full potential. But it's beginning to have the scent of the same problems that look to be plaguing NG3: visceral, STEEL ON BONE style over substance.

CLOSING COMMENTS
Ninja Gaiden 3 is a gash on the face of the franchise and one of the worst games the action genre has yet suffered. It has no consideration for its fans’ wants or what a new audience may have enjoyed. It’s a nightmare that’s as easy as it is uninteresting, and it abandons what used to work for awful new ideas that don’t work together. Under no circumstance should you ever waste your time on this self-indulgent and abysmal wreck.
