I'm kind of surprised how well if feels in 3rd person. It's still pretty clunky but miles better than Fallout or Oblivion.

At least now I can play it and actually see my guy.

After we killed the first dragon and I absorbed it's soul becoming all bad ass and shit, I shouted and hit the guards who then killed me, so I had to reload and fight the damn dragon again.

I really like it. The only problem I have is that enemy ai doesn't react to damage, but that's understandable when you remember it's an rpg. Combat gives you a lot of leeway and freedom to do what you want and often, you're put in scenarios that let you take advantage of the situation: traps, oiled floors, etc

Oh my god. boost your speakers in the middle of a dungeon, especially with a companion partner. you will be tripping balls due to the immersion. any sound will make you flinch and look around for someone snipe/gank/stab/skull fuck. The sound design is BRILLIANT.

I say this as a stealth player.

The one thing that Skyrim does so much better than Oblivion that I would single out [of all the various things that Skryim does better], are the dungeons. Every dungeons feels unique, looks unique, and has its own little story. Each one feels like a brand new adventure and I want to find out what's at the end so bad. Many of them are part of quests, and some of them even offer quests.

And I've barely seen a fraction of them.

I did and man, it's awesome. I was hoarding books and a shit ton of alchemy ingredients, and being able to dump that shit off in my house is pretty sweet. Plus I was holding the bones and scales of my first dragon kill and those fuckers are heavy.

I bought a house in Whiterun, and it wasn't cheap. I basically made all the gold by taking Lydia with me to all the bandit holds that I had cleared out already and systematically taking everything that was worth anything and dumping it on her pack mule style. Then I'd travel back to town and sell it.

Doing a Companions quest, the one where you go out w/ Farkas. You'll run into some dudes called "Silver Hand" on it and they each carry 30+ gold on them, so they're super profitable to kill. Plus their silver weapons sell for a lot.

did the golden claw quest. combat feels pretty good. i really like how easy it is in switching between weapons.

i think i'm going to spec towards a one handed axe wielding warrior who dabbles a bit in magic.

When companions run out of hp they just kneel down and recover. Only you can kill them (I think).

Seriously? I've been avoiding using them because I didn't wasn't sure if it was like New Vegas or not. I could've had them mule around my dragon scales and bones all this time....... $:-\$

This is the first Elder Scrolls game where I'm probably using magic more than a regular weapon and it's actually pretty awesome. I need to make my way up north to that Mage academy or whatever so I can do more of it.

You should really only focus on archery if you're coupling it with snearkery, otherwise you're at a bit of a disadvantage against groups of enemies.

Anyway, finally found my first Dwemer ruin, so glad they brought these back for Skyrim.

Saw a gameplay video of them launching a bear into the sky with ONE hit. It was hilarious.

The more impressions I hear about this game, the more I want to play it. I really hated Oblivion, so I was kind of ignoring this game. But the glowing impressions are luring me into buying it immediately instead of waiting for the GOTY edition. $:-\$

Going to buy it for the PS3) after finishing Xenoblade and Skyward Sword. Hopefully some of the bugs will be fixed by then...

This game is NOT like New Vegas in that it has a bunch of gamebreaking bugs at launch. I've had it freeze up once on me in 15 hours or so of play.

I love the Obsidian/Black Isle guys to death, but at this point they need adult supervision whenever they make a game.

this game might be the new Morrowind, ho-ly shit. It might honestly have some of the best art direction + world design i've seen, i've straight dropped my jaw in awe at some of the vistas, or just stopping and taking in the feel of the atmosphere of a town, and the feeling of being on an adventure has never been so high for me.

and the ambience of this game is just freaking crazy, damn

the good thing about not hyping myself up for this was that i had no idea what Skryim would entail; and now I know there are Dwemer machinations and such. it's awesome.

I got a Dwarven Helmet of Destruction and it just looks fucking bosssssss, then i saw at a loading screen a full set of dwarven armor, and i knew, deep down knew, that Heavy Armor was the right choice.

I can't wait to see what Orc and Ebony look like, in Morrowind Orc armor was probably the coolest shit ever.
