Started the House of Horrors Quest. Jesus Christ. Daedra Gods are fucking SCARY in this game.

You get a seriously awsome mace after you finish that quest.  It's been my primary weapon ever since I got it.

I'm only around 7 hours in.  Stupid family responsibilities and work :(  I plan on putting another 4 or so in tonight.

That douchebag mage from Whiterun sent hired thugs after me last night.  I had been on a bounty mission and was coming back to town after walking a REALLY long time.  3 hire thugs attack me and fucking slaughter me.  BAH!  I had to walk all the way back.  After I killed them I took some really cool shit off of them.  Ice swords, axes and bows.  And then I found the note on one of them from the dbag mage telling them to teach me a lesson because I stole from them.  >:(  Fucker

24 hours, level 17 dark elf, specializing in destruction, speech, and enchantment. right now, i am a god. casting thunderbolt (expert) for 40 magicka a pop (115 dam a shot) at RANGE makes me a MONSTER. (i swap to fire when lightning resist becomes a problem. i am so loaded with destruction spell cost reduction enchantments it isn't even funny.) and the damage when i remove sparks and dual cast thunderbolt? OH MY. i watched a master vampire get thrown down a hallway and into a bunch of sarcophagii, which ALSO got launched from his impact, because my TWO HAND LIGHTNIN' HITS THAT HARD. (that was a crit which HAD to be in the 400-500 dam range. 115x2 x 2.0 OH YES :-O)

seriously, being a mage rocks in this game. oh, look, the little "master mage" is casting his ward, how ADORABLE. left hand sparks to sap it and pin him, right hand THUNDERBOLT TO THE FACE LOOK AT HIM GOOOOOO. the disintegrate effect as he pinwheels through the air is just the icing on the cake

I snipe shit with my bow and go for back stabs, and if I need to, I bring out a 1h weapon and go to town with my shield + sword/dagger combo. If I need some range attack but don't have enough time to charge my bow, I use a shout. I'll occasionally use a Fire spell.

I'm kind of a jack of all trades but my highest skills are one handed, destruction and heavy armor.  Once I started the thieves guild quests tho I started training really heavily in sneak.  Generally speaking I burninate things at range with firebolt and once they close I whack them to death with mah trusty one handed axe.  Seems to be working out ok for the most part!  I'll probably try a sneaky character and a more mage-y character in future playthroughs.  Seriously tho, this game is crazy awesome in that I'm already planning more playthroughs and how I'll do shit differently.  I'm not one to put numbers on games or yell goty, but I will say this is easily the best/most fun game I've played since Fallout 3 on a personal level.

Bebpo is just confused by not being able to see a spiky haired, fey shemale protagonist.

Fun side note:  as awesome as this game is, there are still hilarious moments where I'm reminded that I'm playing a Bethesda game, like last night when I decapitated some dude wearing a cowl and the cowl stayed attached to the body w/ nothing in it. :lol

Last night I cleared out a bandit hideout.  There was a chest under some stairs and a deck.  I guess it was a trap where a spiked ball and chain falls and is supposed to hit you when you go to open the chest.  But instead I just got stuck behind it and I couldn't get out from under the deck.  Pissed me off.

I've actually found Dwarven stuff in chests (even an enchanted one that negates Shock damage by 50%) but I think looting higher level gear off of enemies is going to be more rare this time around. You either find it chests or in stores from what I've experienced so far.

And being an Alchemists, as always, is fun. You're rewarded for trekking around by building up a good cache of reagents that can be made into potions that'll net you 50 gold on average (and I'm just at lv50 Alchemy without some of the better perks checked).

Also remember to train between levels. You're able to train a skill 5 times each level which helps skills that are hard to train (or lag without the proper birthstone). Its why I've been able to get my Alchemy skill so high at lv16.

yeah, i was trying to recreate my classic oblivion chara "ooga booga" but since that failed i went for a scarred, mohawked, patchy lookin' dark elf with bulging black eyes i named "creeper".

i left lydia dead. sometimes casualties happen. now i have a wizard apprentice i use as my pack mule, and he's smart enough to stay far behind me and just shoot his puny little fireball while i turn the surrounding environs into a rush concert x ragnarok.

Yep. I think they really made gigantic strides with the leveling system. Instead of conforming to some template you create you're able to turn into the character you instinctively play as. I think this is the ultimate form of whatever leveling system they initially wanted to implement.

Very good game so far, but I don't personally feel like I'm going to play much of it. I got this as a rental because I had the feeling it will come to this. It's an amazing sequel to Oblivion, but Having played Oblivion and Morrowind religiously, my first few hours with the title gave me quite a feeling of deja vu.

I love the weapons reactions to combat. Swords will get stuck in ribs and shields and bouce off realistically; the fighting is really really fun so far. Presentation is perfect, even if there are some minor problems with it (I was in the middle of a snow storm and suddenly it stop..it felt like that scene in the movie Truman Show). The storyline has potential.

I recommend this title for fans of this style of game, but veterans beware; it might feel very much like the same thing; still this is top 5 titles of the generation material!

Yep it's brilliant. I'm starting off with sneak+lockpick so I can get into all the good areas with good loot, using bow/sword to keep myself alive and adding health on every level up. Once I'm at a decent level with a good pool of HP I'm moving to magic to become a sneaky mage.

The fact the path isn't set and you can change is so great.

I wish this game had a tone more Fallout New Vegas style. The quests that are hilarious are funny and more fun then super serious land. The dog quests :bow

I guess I just don't like Bethesda's own games on their own. Oblivion was meh, Fallout 3 was garbage. It's when other developers make their games for them it shines. :bow New Vegas :bow

Lots of great artistic intent in this game where I believe Oblivion had almost none. One case is the almost monochrome look of Winterhold but then you get into the Mage's College and see the beautiful blue light flowing upwards casting its color on the statue. Great worldbuilding by Bethesda going on here in regards to the differentiating art styles and moods for each region.

game is at it's best when you're wandering around some tundra and come across something, a castle full of fire mages tossing out what appeared to be nuclear bombs. fucking hell those things hurt.

EDIT: The castle of which seemed to belong to stormcloaks because their bodies were thrown all over the castle innards. neat little touch.

What elf dude? What are you talking about? The mission I did after that threaten quest you mentioned was the one where you burn some bee hive farm.

That dude in the house was an elf in my game. It asks you to pickpocket some shit and burn the hives outside.
