Several currently-airing series have been delayed, as well. Probably gonna be a lot more delays over the next few weeks.
I'm guessing manga will eventually be delayed too? :(

Most likely, though only Kodansha has delayed any of their magazines so far.

The initial DB Super episodes were dumb, and then then stuff based on the movies was kind of bad animation-wise.  I think they may have cleaned some things up for the BD releases.

I stopped after a few episodes, waited for the stuff covered in the movies to finish, then started watching.  I don't think there's much of anything that makes watching the same stories get stretched out in episode format worth bothering with, so IMO I'd just watch the movies, jump onto the arc that starts after them (I think it's universe six?), then watch the Broly movie.

Watched a bit of Super before reading your post, you weren't kidding about bad animation. I guess 20 years since the end of DBZ the hype must have been kind of dead and their budget small. I still always find it surprising at how remakes or new series of famous franchises like this or HxH can end up looking worse than shit released 20 years ago.

Anyway despite that I've enjoyed the series so far, but I think I'll take your advice and go the movie route. The whole super sayan god shit seemed like it's gonna end up being a pretty dumb arc to be worth putting all the hours into the show. Still smirking at how an unborn baby made Videl hair turn blonde though.

I have nothing to watch right now, so I'll give it a chance. Just added the 3D animated Godzilla movies to my Netflix queue also. I'm even thinking about giving NGE a chance again... :-\

Forget about Ghost In The Shell and watch Psycho-Pass instead.

Got caught up on it and watched PP3 and the three-episode "First Inspector" follow-up this past week.

Ppl hate the godzilla movies but I liked them. They're very weird, and it's not really about Godzilla at all. I know the entire franchise isn't really about Godzilla but these movies are super weird, spiritual and esoteric about it.

That looks like an absolute classic. Thanks toku!

It's a 3 ep ova, that's the third ep. Doesn't really matter what order you watch tho since they're all stand alone stories, they just recenter the main character in the group each time. That eps my favorite though.

Dunno about the movies, but the First Inspector series should be on Amazon too.  I grabbed 'em from Nyaa because they are supposed to be split into three episodes and apparently the Amazon version is some kind of edited-together "movie."

You definitely want to watch the Sinners of the System OVAs before you watch season three.  I don't get why they even broke all this up- Sinners, season three, and First Inspector (especially the latter) are all one big story.

Very minor spoiler for season 3, but ending spoiler for Sinners Of The System:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
So we get this team of people made up of former police/enforcers who were the main characters from previous systems.  They don't seem to be answering to SYBIL and aren't being manipulated and all that.  Great, right?  Only they just kind of show up from time to time and help fight, then leave again, and have no real impact on the story.   :lol

One new show I've been enjoying is Fugou Keiji: Balance:UNLIMITED.  It's a "buddy" cop show about a guy who was moved from a more prestigious division down to a lower division after he fucked up a case.  His group is then joined by an impossibly-rich guy who uses his unlimited wealth to do whatever the hell he wants, including "buying" his way into being a detective.  This character is kind of like Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark- he's a big rich asshole, spending money and using a crazy AI system to bribe people/get the job done (he buys a building just so he can shoot at criminals on top of it), much to the detriment of the more normal detective he is paired up with.

It's been about a week since I finished Madoka Magica. Just the show. I know there is a movie. Doesn't appear to be on Netflix so that will have to wait for now.

I already knew ahead of time that the anime was blatantly a "don't judge a book by it's cover" ordeal where "shit gets real". Even so I was not fully prepared. All the labyrinth stuff seems like Persona dungeons on DMT. The way we learn about the characters and their motives is really nice. For several episodes you might have a character pegged as X, but then as more is revealed about them we realize it's actually Y. It's really my favorite part. As the web becomes more untangled and things become more clear you really shift your views on the people and the circumstances. And the show does it with such ease and grace which really impressed me for a 12 episode show. Sure there are various things that you just assume happen in the background, but the main stuff is not overlooked.

The last episode I had to sort of rewatch various bits cause suddenly it's god damn EVA all over again aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh! But after thinking I wrapped my head around it, I actually get the conclusion here haha.

Music was pretty good too. I was really scared in the first five minutes of the first episode that this was going to be "cool animu butt rock that high school guys like" which I hate and also over the top Dragonball-esque fighting, which isn't my cup of tea. Luckily that turned out to be a red herring. I mean yes the fighting is complete utter fantasy over the top. But a different variety that I didn't mind. I think that's due to the enemy types. I just didn't two enemies floating in the air talking shit doing animu cliche chants. Instead the weapons and fights are overtly absurd while having some disturbing sense of fairy tales gone awfully wrong.

Anyway, that last episode man. Madoka. I guess I should be at peace with her decision. Yet... ah I don't know man. What she did took massive balls and I guess she decided with absolute clarity. Still.

Oh, how freaking awesome is it that in the shows current timeline that we observe the story from that
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Madoka doesn't become a magical girl until the final episode? That to me was a great decision. Considering that the show is all about these magical girls and yet the main character essentially moves in this timeline not being one of them.
[close]

How is the movie anyway? Should I look forward to seeing it?

Oh and one small quip. The subtitles were too fast sometimes. I would say on average I had to rewind the show 3 times per episode to catch all the dialogue.

That's pretty much how I feel. OP was meh, ED was alright.

Still not a fan of the CG and how the characters look, just doesn't quite work for me. Would much rather they stuck with 2D like the previous series, or even a blend of 2D and 3D like Innocence. Still, it's a lot better than some other recent CG shows, like Berserk.

That might be one bridge too far to push another series.
I saw half of Arise and I don't remember any of it. The films and SAC cribbed most of the good bits & storylines of the Ghost in the Shell manga (original run and 1.5). Never say never, there's maybe ways to come up with new stuff to graft unto that but I'd rather have a new Dominion series or a better adaptation of Appleseed. They never got the latter right despite the original story being as strong as GitS and with some room to grow (being unconcluded).

In that way it kinda felt like an okay ep of SAC. I enjoyed the Appleseed movies though so I'm not surprised this show isn't bothering me. I couldn't finish Arise but I'll probably enjoy my time with this.

It's better than Arise was, TBH.
:trumps

Once you get past the look of the show, it's fine.  The animation isn't too terrible, either.

I notice that Bandai-Namco is involved with this.  Maybe it's the modeling and animation or something...makes me wonder if Motoko is going to be the next Tekken 7 character reveal.

After an episode or two, you won't really even think about it anymore.  It's still very much Ghost In The Shell, with the same voice actors and all that.  Seems to be more action-focused than some of the previous shows, though.
