toonami schedule:

12:00 a.m. - Bleach
12:30 a.m. - Deadman Wonderland
1:00 a.m. - Casshern Sins
1:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhoo
1:00 a.m. - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
2:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop

No Cullen because he's too busy, but Blum will still be that robot dude. Supposedly this like a no budget affair right now.

That's basically what it is. Cartoon Network almost always shafts acquired programming to either early mornings, or late nights now a days. The only exceptions are things like Family Guy, and other Fox shows that bring in big numbers.

The appeal of Toonami back in the day was coming home from school and watching rad cartoons. That is what built up their audience. They think that people will tune into Toonami every night because a bunch of people who have nostalgia watching Toonami just like I described watched it on April 1? One night? Toonami faded out BECAUSE they stuck it in with Adult Swim instead of pandering to teenagers, y'know, the audience that made it popular to begin with.

So apparently this thing needs 2x the current AS Action ratings to be considered a success.

Why even bother resurrecting the branding if you're going to give it the short end of the stick, and then expect unrealistic goals from it? Casshern Sins, a show that's on DVD, Netflix, and a tonne of streaming sites - legally, and illegally in both English and Japanese isn't going to be bringing home some big numbers.

"Every night?"

This is just Saturdays. The revival is mirroring gen 3 (Saturdays-only) Toonami in more than just the CG bumpers they're re-using. It sucks but this is probably the only way they could convince them to bring it back.

You should watch more of it. The latest episode was a parody of the Cuban Missile Crisis with Jigen averting nuclear war by chopping a missile in half with his sword while on top of an airplane.

Started watching some glorious nippon animation again, starting with the feel good show of 2012 Tsuritama

Such a great show.  The art is gorgeous, the music is great, and it's a great story of overcoming social anxiety through fishing.  Pretty funny at times too and it's able to dodge most tropes (except for the stereotypical curry eating Indian).

It's directed by the guy that did Trapeze and Mononoke.  Mononoke was a little too slow and serious for me, but I loved Trapeze for its FUN and colors everywhere.  Tsuritama is kind of inbetween the two, but leaning more toward being like Trapeze.

Space bros is starting to piss me off with pandering to people interested in Mutta's childish romances and the general slice of life it is right now. I watch Kids on the Slope for that, I want more working towards NASA and a faster progression on that plot thread instead of wasting a whole ep at a damn party where at best one interesting motivation to, and one to not become an astronaut was revealed.

Is this about the latest ep? I disagree. I think each episode tackles something different. This episode is about what an astronaut is prepared for and even sacrifices to do their jobs on top of what drives the main characters to do what they do. I find it a pretty empowering episode.

Man, Zetman, this is the best shounen anime I've seen since like Hikaru no Go and Kenshin.  I like how the story is generally pleasing instead of taking the obvious angsty crap like having Kouga think Jin is a monster on the bad guy side and having misunderstandings and angsty sasuke/naruto shit.  It's actually like THINGS WORK IN A SATISFYING WAY, which uh, surprisingly makes for a satisfying show!  Who'd have thought.  A show about bros.

This last ep (10) was pretty fucked up though.  Eek.  The badguys are very, very dark messed up villains.  It's like watching Saw except with a ton of censorship.  Need to figure out what manga chapter anime is going to leave off on in a couple of eps so I can jump into the manga.

Though I wish they would just do a Season 2 since the Gundam allstar seiyuu group makes the voices so so good.  SETSUNA x SHINN x RIDDHE x EVERYONE.  Honestly if you google all the guys in the show, they've ALL been in Gundam series.  It's almost like the casting director was a big gundam fan :P

Space Bros pissed me off again. I think I'll be dropping this till the season is done, I cannot stand this painfully slow progression and filling time with Mutta's antics just pisses me off more. I'll be suggesting to anyone that wants to watch this to wait till the whole season is done first.

Couldn't help myself, read the rest of the Zetman Kouga arc in manga form to see what happens next.  I don't know if it's just that arc, but unlike the anime which is JUSTICE and HEROES, the manga is kind of dirty softcore porn and violence in a Gantz-like way.  That arc is really messed up!   :-X
