Watched this last night- the sound was off. All the music is much louder than the dialogue. $:-\$ Was a fun watch regardless. I think I've only seen like one episode of City Hunter and the Jackie Chan movie (lol), but it was filled with music from the older shows and the Cat's Eye sisters make an appearance.

And hey it's directed by Junichi Sato who is my man. I adore the ARIA series so so much. Not sure if people in this thread care about that. But he is also known for directing the first season of Sailor Moon and some of the second. I have never watched SM though.

Lupin III: The First is "out" (check Nyaa). The subs are translated from Portuguese and aren't that great, so might be worth waiting if your moonspeak isn't up to par, but for the most part they're adequate.

The plot is very much something you've seen 100 times before, but it was a fun movie. Visually it looks like a lower budget attempt to make a Pixar movie, but the animation is pretty good.

Would love to know when it is supposed to take place- I thought it was maybe the 60s, but at one point they eat Cup Noodles and that product came out in 1971.

For some reason, there were also some scenes that kept making me think of Metal Gear Solid 3 and 5. Jigen in this movie also kinda looks like Snake, lol.

There were two versions. One had less swearing and the shower scene was cut- I thought that was the PG-13 one?

Anyway, this was a great movie for the time and what we should have gotten in U.S. theaters. Other video game adaptions were generally crap- Fatal Fury The Motion Picture was good too, but I kind of don't count it as a game adaption since it has an original story and characters.

Then again, if there was no live-action movie, we never would have gotten these amazing scenes.

The live-action movies are really low-budget and really weird. If you want more of what Jin-Roh is about, you're gonna be disappointed. But if you want weird indie Japan cinema, you'll get plenty of that.

I bought and watched New Cutey Honey on Blu-ray over the weekend for the first time. It's not as bonkers as Gainaix's Re: Cutey Honey, but it was still pretty good and had nice animation and production values. Unfortunately, the high production value is probably what caused it to end abruptly after eight episodes.
