Hoping that Fire Force is better this season. S1 was interesting at the start, but I eventually started to realize how much style over substance or action it is. So many still shots where nothing happens.

If you enjoy Kill La Kill, check out the game (you should be able to find it for $15-$20 now). Has a pretty good story mode with an alternate take on things as Satsuki.

It's another shonen anime show. Just substitute fighting with cooking, but still works the same way, with ultimate techniques and all that kind of crazy shit. Whenever people eat something amazing, it's represented by literal almost-orgasmic reactions and clothes exploding, lol. It's pretty fun to watch and for once, the main character doesn't always win.

Also,this ending theme-

This is supposed to be from the perspective of a creepy stalker-chef girl obsessed with one of the other girls. This is a minor character who isn't on the show much, but there are 1-2 episodes focused on her. At the end of the this mini story arc, something happens to her character and the ending theme got updated to reflect this.

I can't find the video, but I just love that kind of attention to detail.

So playing the new Gundam Vs got me thinking that I haven't been following Gundam for a few years now since Iron Blooded Orphans finished. From what I can tell it's basically all shit since. Maybe will try to watch this and suffer:

Not sure how much I care about all the new Build Fighters series with Dive and Re: Dive. Wish they would stop doing all this kid stuff and get back to some regular Gundam series.

Netflix France has added 6 City Hunter OAVs which is great because I like it (though only through passing familiarity) and I get my Japan & 80's & Polar/Action fix in a neat, 80-90mn package.

I forgot it shared universe with Cat's Eyes which is another childhood favourite.

The first one I'm currently watching is City Hunter : Ai to shukumei no Magnum.

But Jesus at the horniness of Ryo Seaba and double entendres : I know it's core to it but if the #rapeculture was ever a thing it's certainly with this.

Ryo is sweating a police detective that owes him dates on the phone for leads and threatens to "collect his due right now" (Her response : "There's too many people here"). It's obviously good natured in the writing and he's also the gentlemanest white knight to ever live ultimately but I can see why someone would take exception to it.

Kaori best waifu obviously.

It is a bit dry and I don't think it lives up to its premise entirely. Good scenes (the protest and the sewer shootouts) but you can get the same in Akira in a much more compelling and rich feature. A shame because it's otherwise very on point on a technical and artistic level.

Was always curious about the manga and live action films.

The one I saw is .357 Magnum in English. City Hunter : Bay City Wars is only a 42mn affair and it's not as classy (or technically proficient) as the tale of love, spycraft and honour that was .357 Magnum. A disgraced Noriega-expy and his troops take over a Tokyo, computer-controlled "smart" hotel on inauguration night. Kaori is among the guests so our baddies can leverage this against Ryo when he walks into the situation without being aware of it... You probably guessed it's the obligatory Die Hard / Die Harder "homage". The plot is just thin enough you can hang an action romp around it and they really fast forward through story beats (maybe the translation makes it more stilted even ?) but they mix the action set pieces enough it's not too derivative of the source material.

I wanna say it was almost on the levels of Lupin here, in the late 90s early 2000s, in terms of popularity.
I assume it was big all over Europe at least.
For sure Hojo's most popular thing, even though Cat's Eye was also big, and i was partial to F.Compo, my brother had the manga and it was quite funny and charming.

I could tell my dad wanted me to be into sports but it was just not happening back then

That said, I eventually grew up to (at one point) be the coach of my tech company's beer league softball team. Most of my drinking skills/problems stem from this time.
