...it's going to be good.  Frag gave it his stamp of approval during the recording of the most recent Cruncheons.  Everything I've seen of the game makes my nipples hard in anticipation.  I will own this game before the weekend.

I'm surprised this thread is this dead.

This game is amazing. I don't know how to do half the stuff but I think this game is hard enough to where you will need to try different things the next play through.

I saw some babbys on the other board admit they save after every move so none of their precious soldiers die. :wank
It's embarrassing.

Haven't really followed this game, do you keep your soldiers through the missions? Level them up over time in the campaign?

Meh. I guess it's cool to have soldiers that you connect to over time, but I'm horribly ocd with strategy games like that and end up replaying missions when my units die too much that I grow tired of the game and quit playing halfway through. Prefer it if you have a specific team for each mission.

Finished up Dishonored so I'm gonna give this a real first go at some point tonight (just played the first two missions then stopped). Can't wait to dive in and give this game my full attention.

Eh, I'm playing pc games for 20 years, so I wouldn't call myself a modern gamer. It's true tho that I've never played the X-Com games, but I've played other games that have similar mechanics like the General series or Jagged Alliance 1&2 extensively and I just can't deal with capaigns where your previous success in a mission caries over too the next missions even though I enjoy the gameplay. Much prefer scenario modes or campaigns where missions are independent of each other, even though I get the appeal of a proper campaign.

Just play in ironman mode, then you don't have to worry about abusing the save system.

Probably took me a little over 15, collecting everything and doing some exploring along the way (and I already can't wait to go through it again).

A few hours into XCOM and it's everything I wanted it to be. The between mission base building/researching/satellite stuff is interesting and of course the core TBS gameplay is incredibly solid. This will devour my time this weekend. I haven't lost any soldiers yet but I know it's going to bother me so much when it inevitably happens, oh well.

Played some last night. Seems as fun as I remember Xcom to be. It's nice they put in a good tutorial. The original use to just toss you into the action and rape you from what I remember.

That mission was tense as fuck. It spawned three chrysalids, three floaters, and three thin men all in the opening area. Managed to get through the whole thing with only a wounded soldier AND i captured the Outsider.

Go me!

I've only played the single player campaign, but there is a multiplayer mode where you can play against human opponents. Co-op wouldn't work well in a tactical game with few units.

disagree'd. you could easily split the units in half. even with the stock group of 4.

it would be cool because you'd be severely limited with just 2 units so it would force the two people to work together.

It's possible if you have two players discussing everything over voice chat, but in most cases you'll end up with a worse strategy. In most good co-op games you'll instead assist each other and come up with something that's more efficient than what a single person can do.

The game runs great at 1080P on my 7 year old PC.
AMD X2 3800
Radeon 6850(upgraded last year)
2gb DDR (I think they are up to DDR3 now)

It chugs through some videos but the game is fluid and looks great.
