Both next gen. Both games launching with or near the console.

That doesn't sound right. It's one of those way too good to be true rumors.

Hey Oscar, launches are perfect for arcade racers.

They're flashy (show off next-gen visuals), fast and easy to pick up. They can even be severely (PGR3, Motorstorm) lacking in content as long as they have online to keep players pounding away at leveling up. Then they can take that base and make a full content sequel over the next 2 years for a moderate cost and have an AAA racer (that will sell less than its predecessor but earn excellent review scores).

The killer is that if Forza and GT had really pulled off some of the mobile integration they bragged about, they could have stolen that whole mobile freemium money printing audience. But they didn't and efficient markets filled the gap

I can understand they wont try to woo Japan anymore after two gens of super failure despite some efforts (some jrpg's.)

But they made such huge strides in the EU (mainly due to Sony fucking up for sure) that I thought they would go for the market there as well. Now it seems like they want to consolidate America while just being ok with whatever they do in Europe.

No second hand market, online only and focus on services which aren't available here is a nightmare for here.

That said, fuck consoles if any of this is true. The only reason I tolerate not being able to sell/loan/trade PC games is because they're cheap, and both MS and Sony have shown they're unwilling to run those kind of discounts on console (well, Sony will on the rare occasion, usually when the game is 4+ years old).

Honestly you're better off with PC/Steam. These consoles are going to thrash around in the blue ocean to try to siphon Apple customers. So you're going to see a lot of features that aren't for gamers that you're paying for anyway. It's going to be a social media device first, set top box second, and games console third.

TBH maxy I don't care. If thet can't make a viable business model with cheaper games someone else will.

Games like Witcher, Xcom, Chilvary, Dota, Civilization are all super viable on PC. If that's the future and no more GTA then I'm cool with that.

Maybe these devs will need to look at things like salaries and move to cheaper countries, just like in many other industries.

Witcher guys are making a profit cause they dont all earn 100k dollars a year.

I mean sure there might be 1 or 2 games a year that I would think are worth that... but not many more. Last year I think it was only Diablo 3 that I spent 60 on. Borderlands 2 40ish and everything else sub 20.

Pretty much. Replace Gamestop with mediamarkt, GAME UK or whatever entity you like. This is why online-only and used-game-bans won't happen this gen... the climate isn't right for it (yet). Always on doesn't bother me. I've stopped renting games already because I don't have the time. And I buy maybe 50% of my games used.

So it pretty much depends on how the pricing of games turns out. Neither company can be ignorant to how how steam works. And if the prices are even half as good as steam's then it wouldn't be too bad. Especially if it was synergistic with PS plus.

Difference is you can get games so cheap there it's like buying second hand or better. So it's not the same thing.

PC games are cheaper from the get go (new tomb raider is up for 45 as a preorder for example, 360/PS3 version is 60), plus withing a month or so there is always some promo. If you wait a few months there is a sick sale. Witcher 2 is 9,99 now on Steam. Still 29.99 on Amazon for 360...

So the PS4 games will link to the console, Xbox 720 games use registration codes.
