Yeah, once you get one character to 60 trying to get there with another is not very exciting.  I did start a hardcore monk yesterday, but normal is soooooo easy, especially in the beginning.

I guess I'll just get my DH to 60 by myself and then use my friend for the other classes.

Btw, wtf are people so dumb at using the auction house?  My so-so rare items keep getting sold for more than they're worth.  Many of my blue items, some of which are significantly better than yellow gear of the same level, are completely ignored.

Hit level 60 last night and bought some new equip finally, hadn't really bought anything new since Act 2 hell. What's really holding me back is my crappy flawless squares, and for some reason I haven't been able to buy any gems in the AH for ages. Got a mate who we're funneling money and gems to to make us what we need but some glitch affected his stash of tomes of secrets so we gotta grind inferno for a bunch of those. Decided to rock a 6xx axe and a shield instead of my usual setup, I usually live off a lot of life steal and spirit regen but high level monk weapons with those stats were too pricey for me atm.

A million, maybe a million and a half. Depends on whether you spent a lot of time grinding for good equipment.

Interesting article that explains why D3 is less addictive than D2.

Pretty true. After almost 50 hours I'm probably done with this game until it's patched beyond being "play until your gear sucks and you have to go to AH."

That article totally nails it. I've grinded for hours on Act 1 Inferno and not ONCE have I come across a piece of equipment that made me feel the thrill of finding something amazing. I found a few pieces that gave a nominal boost to my stats, which is far, far less than what I need to start making a dent in Act 2 Inferno. So what do I have to do? Grind and grind for gold [or BUY gold with MONEY] and then browse through AH until I come across an item I can use.

D3 is great and I've really loved it, but Blizzard totally screwed up Inferno in a bad way.

Inferno balance right now has a difficulty gap in which Act I feels about right, but Act II feels like trying to bust through a brick wall. In patch 1.0.3 we’re going to be lowering that wall by adjusting the damage and health of monsters in Inferno Act II, III and IV.

I have no problem with that in conjunction with everything else (better item drops and nerfing Acts 2 and beyond) they're doing.

...as long as they don't fuck with my royal crypts gold farming. :P

Seriously though, pretty much everything in there is good news.  People need to chill the fuck out, game has been out less than a month and D2 wasn't perfect on release either for fucks sakes.

Does anyone get weird bullet-time like slowdowns since D3 was patched from launch?  Fraps always shows the game at 60fps but gameplay is perceptibly slower at times.  It's not correlated to the amount of onscreen activity either.  Sometimes it happens with just a few enemies but then it'll be completely smooth with 20-30 enemies.  I guess it could be network lag but I usually disable all downloading before launching D3.

Interesting article that explains why D3 is less addictive than D2.

Disclaimer: I've played like 70 hours and really like the game

Pretty much agreed with the article though. I grind a lot, I stack my valor etc but the reward is almost always something I cannot use, or some under powered gear. I'd have less of a problem with it if the difficulty had more basis on skill instead of being nearly entirely a gear driven game. I've been grinding The Butcher and other parts of Act I for a week to no avail. So I wind up using my gold to buy what I need on AH

I'm fine with the repair changes; there should be more punishment in general, and maybe this could be one way to make things feel better. Although I'd love for your gear to lose stats (or gems) once you die a certain amount of times in Inferno, and you'd have to go to the BS to have them repaired. That would at least make the BS worth leveling up. Given how quickly you can make 100k gold in the game, I don't see this as being too big of a burden (in Inferno)

Nerfing group play...eh. I don't understand the point behind that. Group play is fun in part because it's more challenging and you get larger packs of enemies. It's also easier to grind for gold/loot with more people, meaning you'll constantly be bettering yourself.

Sigh, think I've hit the wall with my wizard.  It's either have 21k dps and high armor/resists and die in 1 or 2 hits or have 30k dps and die in one hit.  I'm just not good enough for where I am in act II right now to dodge shit so much, and while I don't mind kiting I don't have room to do it... not that it matters when the mobs chasing you are faster than you are (fast teleporter arcane jailer lololololol) and run right through your blizzard or teleport out of it.  Seriously upgrading my gear at this point is going to cost me over 10 million gold and I have around 200k in my bank.

So, if it's gonna take a couple of weeks until 1.0.3 hits, I'll just try to level another character or two to 60 I guess.  I honestly think barb is more my style anyway.

Not gonna do anything distinguished mentally-challenged like sell all of my Wizard's gear or whatever, but yeah, I'm just not good enough with the gear I have and the way Inferno Act 2 is right now to progress.  I killed the fuck out of Magdha on my first try, because I could run around and then when the goons were cleared out I would fucking nuke her like nobody's bidness.  It's these elite mobs in confined spaces, man.  Can't deal with em.  I've only made it as far as I have in Act 2 because I ran a lot and avoided shit, but I can't seem to do that any more.

I agree with pretty much all the changes that guy suggested. Right now my Inferno drops boil down to this, after a week of Butcher, Skeleton King, etc runs:

-sub par DH or monk gear I can't put on the AH
-super meh weapons (like a lv58 1H sword that does 200dps)
-weak armor I can't use

I get so many lv55-57 blues it's crazy. It's like the drops have hit a ceiling, which means I've hit a ceiling and can't progress to Act II. I can roflstomp just about any elite group in Act I, I can stand in fire and solo The Butcher etc but can't survive a champion pack in Act II. C'mon son

I decided to grind Butcher to feel better about myself after my terrible adventures in Act 2 earlier today, and he gave me a lv 51 yellow drop.  :-\

The only good news is that the price of really high dps wands is dropping, so it's feasible for me to grind a bunch of gold and buy one in like a week as opposed to a month.

The signal to noise ratio on the Diablo forums tends to be pretty terrible (with General being unreadable, the class forums more useful) but this topic really helped me out and I'd recommend it to any Gryffinbore wizards who are having difficulty with Act 2 Inferno or just want to change up their playstyle a bit:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5621027826

BATTLE MAGE, BITCHES.  You still have the option to kite around your hydra and use Ray of Frost for long range stuff, but if you get a nice weapon with cold damage and a high attack speed, I GUARANTEE YOU ALL THE BULLSHIT THAT'S BEEN KILLING YOU WILL DIE TO YOUR SPECTRAL BLADES.  Of course, rather than go the budget route I bought an Azurewrath for about a million that has all sorts of good stats on it, and your wizard has the added benefit of looking like some Final Fantasy reject carrying around a ginormous crazy lookin' sword.

So, not only did I make it out of the sewers, into the Oasis, and retrieve Kuul's head but I even managed to work up a 5 stack doing it!  I'm sure I'll be bitching about something else soon when I get stuck, but for now Act 2 Inferno is getting better.  There's still certain affixes I have to avoid or drag somewhere else and let them kill me, but champions/elites are going down now too.  UNF.
