I thought it was terrible. The 360 controller knock off is about the only good idea they've had and I suspect that is because western developers told Nintendo straight up that they weren't going to be designing games for a shitty iPad controller. Otherwise, they just tried attempting to repackage chat, forums, and e-mail and called it an innovation or "unique."

Persistent integrated communication the moment you turn the device on is a very good improvement. Text and doodle messaging looks easy and convenient, the whole network appears to actually be something cohesive and useful now - as opposed to the barren wastes of your typical Wii friends list and message board. The way that works into games could be fun as well... the comments from other Mii's when the guy died in a Mario game reminded me of comment functionality on SoundCloud, where you can have comments for specific moments in songs. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and there'll be people who want to turn it off straight away, but generally the idea behind it and the interface looks sound and far better than what we came to expect from Nintendo on the Wii.

My only disappointment with the stream was that they tried some weird self-aware humour thing that wasn't quite self-aware enough to know it sucked, and it was very rambly. My only disappointment with the system UI so far is that it uses Miis on the Twitter style pages. I think it would look slicker, more professional and inviting had they gone with regular profile pictures or something. They could have at least updated the look of the Miis to give them a next gen sheen... they look exactly as they did on the Wii.

The browser curtain might not be revolutionary, but it is a good idea. I've enjoyed doing similar things with my laptop and a TV as a second screen.

It doesn't bother me that Miis exist, I just don't want to have to see them in my games. It would be nice if they were radically redesigned, though, so that it doesn't feel like we are stuck in 2006 forever.

I highly doubt it'll be graphically anything a Wii can't render. However they might push other Wii U features, the demonstrated social aspect being one of them. It's also going to be a quick launch game, so no surprise there.

Yeah, sadly the game really isn't that much better looking than NSMB Wii, aside from much better backgrounds and the grass looking nicer. :/

But I really wish they would ditch the NSMB art style entirely. This'll be the 4th game that utilizes it. Hell, I didn't like it when Nintendo reused SMG's art style for its sequel, and that one always looked a billion times better than NSMB.
