Why does that controller even exist? This thing is supposed to use all the Wii's peripherals right? Unless that has a gyro in it, why not continue with production on the current CC Pro and give it a wireless feature?

ccpro didn't have clickable sticks. Probably the only difference.

Ah yes, I forgot about that game changing input.

The whole point of the curtain, which I think Iwata forgot to mention, is that it always reveals Goatse no matter what you're browsing.  I think in that context it's actually a pretty neat feature.

I'm sure a lot of people who're into twitter and stuff will love all the muddled messages around the interface and games.  I get why it could be cool, to see reactions and comments relating to specific points in games....but I really hope you can turn all that off.  Like, everything.  Unless it's a system wide Trials Evo/SSX type multiplayer system with goal posts in levels to beat.  That I'm into.  None of this sub-social network stuff.

Stupid skit aside, I'm not against anything they showed. I'm also surprised they cleared these reveals out of the way before E3, and announced that 3DS will not be a focus this year ("But in future events").  It obviously means they're going to push this thing even more than I expected.

I also don't think the social features' integration is really that offensive. I find the combination of WARA WARA, in-game Mii comments, and (Vita inspired) message board system interesting to say the least, especially from a company that was so anal about connecting people online. I guess that's one way where they budged to 3rd party demands. At the very least, it will make the network feel more populated and active. It's not the worst solution to the social networking problem on consoles. But I guess I'll have to wait to see it all in action.

Speaking of succumbing to 3rd parties, 360 controller is lulz. It's not horrible, I'll be getting it for sure, but still lulz.

One think I'm trying to figure out is were they merely showing clickable analogs or that pressure/clicking will also modify directional inputs, i.e. move analog without clicking > character movement, click+move analog > different functionality. Because the person didn't just click, but clicked and moved the stick. But maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

Another thing I realized is that by announcing they won't allot (too much time) to talk about the 3DS, the enevitable redesign announcement has been effectively delayed? :fbm

I don't remember which game but there was a Xbox or 360 game that had some sort of movement when the stick was clicked and a different one when not. It's driving me mad now, I don't think it was a shooter.

Oh, I'd like to see how the implementation worked. Because while the it sounds like a neat idea in theory, in practice is can be awkward. Unless the click's feedback is different from the ones in current generation controllers.

you're really overthinking this.  it's a 360/dual shock controller with a screen.

like, Halo's default control scheme is hold down the left stick to crouch.

You might be talking Gunvalkyrie

Quote
Players control Kelly or Saburouta with both analog sticks, the left controlling forward/backward movement and turning, while the right aims their weapons, and when clicked, allows quick-turns. Clicking in the left stick while pointing in a direction causes the character to boost. The left trigger is a boost/jump, and when combined with the left analog boost, can be strung together into combos to keep the player off the ground entirely, which is a necessity for some levels. Face buttons are used to select weapons, and the right trigger fires the selected weapon
