One player is playing as Mario on the TV, while Trinnen uses the GamePad to create extra platforms in the game world.

The platforms he creates only last for a few moments, so the two players need to be very in sync.

With the way Dolphin shots get posted on GAF whenever anyone suggests the Wii has graphics the whimsy emulation technology must already be pretty up there.

Also, you know what's super sad story bro?  If pikmin 3 had released on wii as originally planned, the only nintendo games in development to launch timely with the wiiu would be wii fit u (expansion pack), nintendoland (not resource hungry), warioware missing the point edition, and nsmbu.  What the fuck is going on where they have so little content to show for.

But that would have been true before last year when ea president came out on stage and talked the console up.  For the record stuff like boomblox and the tiger woods games did well on wii. 

There's also the question of activision and CoD, but Treyarch reps have strongly hinted at blops 2 appearing on wiiU already, so I'm not too worried.

edit: For whatever reason Warner Bros is at least trying to establish themselves on the system though.

ea games on wii always struck me as bare minimum efforts (with a couple of exceptions, that rail mode in MOH Heroes 2 was a blast), at least activision put a little behind their CoD ports (online worked really well in World at War, never played any of the others)

I would say that the lack of Nintendo first party on Wii U so far is due to them struggling to adapt to HD development, but then again it's not like some of these smucks have been making games on Wii and 3DS recently.

EA probably wanted Origin, online passes, and its business all up in the Wii U.  Not compatible with wara wara.

All of them worked pretty well online, Treyarch even went through the trouble of figuring out how to patch the games. I think Blops Wii had 20+ patches or something crazy.

I never understood why it took EA so long to make an NHL game on Wii. That shit seemed like a natural fit, but IIRC their first (and last) NHL game for Wii launched in like 2010. Wii already peaked by then.

Wii games have shown to have really good assets that hold up under the hd emulation of dolphin though.  Again, it looks like they are just being plain lazy or slow moving, and basically have chosen to ignore the negligence issues that cut the wii short and gave the 3ds a hard time to establish itself.   

I'm still going to buy it because I've seen at least 5 things I want to play, but it is all very disconcerting.

This actually sounds plausible.  And in the light I'm not too bummed. It would be cool if Nintendo basically told publishers not to pull this shit on their console. Hopefully they can manage.

Wii had metroid prime 3 and mario galaxy at its coming out party and in general had a good novelty feel going for it.  Also smash brawl got unveiled in its own miniconference thing.  So yeah, 06 was pretty hype.

The weird thing is that they didn't even need to show much of anything, look at how much hype that Zelda tech demo got, thing was dissected for months. It's not unreasonable to think that teams are in fact working on standard Nintendo franchises. If they made a minute video to show at the end with a tag like "and here's what's to come" with some shots of a Zelda, 3D Mario and whatever Retro is up to even if 90% of it wound up being BS in the end, the fans would have been crying in joy again and already started camping out.

That's basically what they did with the GameCube didn't they? Luigi's Mansion and Smash Bros were like the only thing that were true games and came out for the first six or nine months or whatever.

I expect both Sony and MS to hold a separate event late this year/early next year to announce their platforms, and then detail them at E3.
