The last guide I felt ripped off on was for Street Fighter X Tekken, since it didn't contain any data for the DLC characters.

No information about dates and pricing as of yet obviously, but if these are indeed new characters with unique movesets instead of skins or customized characters then we can probably assume they're free, since Harada-sama vowed not to charge for anything other than cosmetics. (Let's hope Namco didn't break him)

So although I'm still hyped to the moon for this, let's get some of the negative visual points out of the way:

-The game apparently still runs at sub-HD resolution like Tekken 6 did.
-You cannot disable motion blur, so no higher-res "trick" like the 360 TK6 offered.
-The resolution actually drops down MORE when you have 3-4 characters on screen at the same time.
-Background animations/details are lost when playing online. For example, all of the people watching on the schoolyard stage are gone.

I don't mind the last point if it means smoother online play, and initial impressions are overall pretty positive. It's SCV-quality, which is REALLY good.

I've also played the TTT2 Prologue on Tekken Hybrid. It's a definite step up from TK6 and the character models look noticeably better. The game looks great.

I thought it was 720p and dynamically drops a level when an extra character appears on screen (four characters resulting in ~ +/-500p). If it's significantly lower than 720p with 2 chars on screen, it'll be disappointing.

Also, does it apply any AA by default? Disabling motion blur in the PS3 version of T2 added a 2xAA to slightly alleviate the jagfest.

I noticed the image quality in TTT2 on 360 is sharper than T6 on 360 but there is definitely more aliasing in TTT2. Turning motion blur off doesn't improve the image quality or bump up the resolution like it did in 360 T6.

Back from Gamestop. The store has a new manager and she would not stop pestering me about signing up for the rip-off rewards card the entire time. She even seemed to be agitated that I wasn't going to take up this totally fabulous offer!

It was really, really annoying and just another reminder of why I only go to Gamestop for those few exclusive things like the pre-order bonus. Even as the transaction finished, she asked me why I wasn't interested. I said "I just don't go to Gamestop enough for it to matter" and that finally got her to stop.

I had a nice stack of trade-ins that paid for both copies of the game and still had $35 left over that went towards DOA5 CE. Dreading having to go back there to get that game, but once I do it's buh-bye Gamestop again until whenever exclusive edition or bonus makes me go back.

On another note, she also kept hyping up the "Tekken 6/Soul Calibur V mash-up game," which is obviously a budget-priced collection pack, as a new fighting game. -_-

Fair warning to those who get the game on PS3- The install takes a loooooooooooooooooooong time. I'm glad it's mandatory this time, since TK6 PS3 uninstalled had horrific load times and idiots would play it without installing.

I just played a bunch of matches on 360. Online is definitely on par with Soul Calibur V...perhaps even better- I had a very smooth match against someone from the UK.

There's one guy playing the game offline on my 360 friends list, but my PS3 friends lists are dominated by people playing the game. Probably a safe bet to assume that the PS3 version is going to be much more popular.

Gonna try it on PS3 now.

I haven't seen anything that sticks out, but we have to wait for the "experts" to put it under the microscope. Regardless of its resolution, the game still looks a lot nicer than Tekken 6 did. The character models have been redone for the better.

I wish games like this came out on everything- a PC version and a Vita version with cross play would be awesome.

And LOLOLOLOL at the character creation system...in a good way- There's multiple slots available per character AND a full color palette for adjusting colors. It's like they looked at everything SFxTK did wrong and made sure TTT2 did it right.

OK, I take that back- get it on 360. Even installed, the PS3 version has noticeably-longer load times and even has to load stuff like the outfit select on the character select screen.

It looked like there were more jaggies too, but I did play the 360 version on my 22" ASUS monitor and the PS3 version on my 42" Panasonic.

So yeah, after an extended amount of play time with the PS3 version, it's a bit disappointing- the game stopping to load on any character with an outfit other than their default is incredibly annoying. It just keeps loading more than the 360 version -noticeably so- and breaks up what should be a smoother experience.

Since my main PSN account registers itself as Japanese, I deleted my save data and will be playing under my alt "lyteedge2" account- add me if you added me to "lyteedge" before and want to play.

Currently-reinstalling the game to see if something went wrong the first time, but right now...360 version is better.

I haven't checked out training mode yet. It will demonstrate moves for you though. I believe there is at least one challenge mode of some sort...ghost battle mode is back, too.

You can buy a fightpad. I use it on PS3 too...way more comfortable to use and the button set up works better. Why do people act like the stock controller is the only thing available for use?

Playing Ghost Battle is the fastest way I've found to unlock stuff. I got about 1.7 million gold, unlocked more parts for the character edit, more portraits and intro backgrounds, and got two endings unlocked after just 11 matches.

Hilarious endings...was also surprised how long Lili's ending is.

Bork is right about how annoying it is to wait for a customized character to load the costume screen during character select. The fact that you can instantly select the default outfit by hitting X is nice, especially when you don't give a fuck and just want to play, but I hate how this is a PS3 only issue.

OK, so clearly just picking characters and mashing through the arcade mode stops at the last boss. It's time to learn a few things and try again.

I'll try arcade mode today maybe, but I'd rather just keep playing ghost battle mode and online instead.

What mode are the bosses in? All I played was Arcade, but I figured it was an endless Kumite, and I suck too much to do much with it.

I'm not crazy about Fight Lab. It's extremely overindulgent for what is basically a simple Challenge mode—it has more dialogue than any other mode in the game and extensive God Hand-esque move customization and point accumulation.

I appreciate the zaniness in some small way, and maybe if I didn't actually need to use Fight Lab to figure out how to play the game, I'd probably think differently of it.

I think I've found my main team in Anna and Nina. Too good!

But I'm also really liking Kunimitsu (I did some INSANE attack dodging in one match...it was unreal) and Jaycee.

I consider myself to be very much a beginner-level Tekken player. IMO the most important things to learn first are movement (learn how to step-cancel ASAP) and pokes for the characters you like. Counters too (they're easy!)

Hit up guides/forums to get the character's best special moves and start from there. Once you get comfortable with the moves, start adding a bit onto the end to make your combos longer. It's pointless to try and learn huge, long combo strings in the beginning. And forget those dumb 10 hit combos. Nobody uses them.
