We should figure out some side bet, Andy.  I've got Matt Forte and 27.7 points vs. your AJ Green and PIT defense.

So Tebow time? Sanchez didn't look bad but that fumble should end his starter gig for a few games

Not yet, Rex is going to stick by Sanchez for as long as possible.

It's kind of weird to think that Jimmy Haslem paid 1 billion dollars to become the biggest Browns fan. What a hellish deal.

There's nothing to say that hasn't been said all year. This team went into the off season with some clear objectives: beef up the defense, especially the secondary. Instead we drafted an offensive linemen in the first round, and a WR in the second - who was coming off a big acl injury I might add. Neither player has contributed anything this year; Broyles (the WR) got a touchdown tonight but it was in junk time after the game was pretty much over.

Meanwhile Chicago got better by getting Cutler the weapons he needed while also adding pieces to the defense. Minnesota got Peterson back, their QB is getting better, and they got better at the o-line. Green Bay has struggled a couple times this year but they're still a great team.

Stafford looks like Tebow, I swear. His footwork is fucked up, he looks scared in the pocket, he's constantly throwing jump balls that miss everyone except Calvin, etc. Something is wrong, it's clear he has regressed significantly.

ALLEN PARK -- Jahvid Best, running back for the Detroit Lions, did not pass his neurological tests last week, and the team does not expect him to play anytime soon.

The move does not come as a surprise considering Best completed his exam last Monday, but Lions coach Jim Schwartz would not reveal the results. According to several sources, Best was never going to be cleared, but the Lions wanted him to accrue another NFL season so the running back could have access to the NFL's pension plan, which is obtained after three years of service.

Here is the statement from Lions general manager Martin Mayhew:

"After today's consultation with medical experts, including representatives from our medical and training staffs, it has been determined that Jahvid will not be permitted to return to play at this time," Lions General Manager Martin Mayhew said.

"Throughout this entire process we always have placed the highest priority on what is best for Jahvid from a health and safety standpoint," Mayhew continued. "While today's decision is disappointing from a football perspective, we fully and entirely respect and support this recommendation.

"Jahvid will continue to work with our medial and training staffs with the hope that he ultimately will be cleared to return to the playing field."

As of today, it appears unlikely that Best will play in another NFL game.

Last season, Best missed 11 games after sustaining a season-ending concussion injury against the San Francisco 49ers. It was at least his third concussion in two years.

Detroit made Best a first-round pick in 2010, despite his history of concussions at the University of California. Best rushed for 555 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, plus had 487 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Last season, Best had 390 rushing yards and two touchdowns, plus 287 receiving yards and one touchdown before his injury.

However, family members have been concerned about Best's long-term health, and have pressured him to retire for months.

Best is slated to earn $645,305 this season, $876,000 in 2013, and $1.1 million in 2014. He received a signing bonus worth $1.6 million in 2010.
http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2012/10/jahvid_best_fails_neurological.html

Wow, shit ruined my day. At the same time I am very proud of the Detroit Lions organization and how they handled this. They kept him on the team this year, despite knowing he wouldn't play, so he could qualify for an NFL pension (requires three NFL seasons). They could have easily cut him to make room for much needed depth in the secondary or RB, but decided to do the right thing and take care of a guy they drafted. This year has been a disaster but I'm definitely glad the Lions showed some dignity here, in a business that can often be quite cut throat.

Lions with a nice comeback win. The offense showed signs of life, despite Megatron barely being targeted for most of the game. Stafford finally looked comfortable in the pocket and made a lot of easy throws he's been missing all year. Hopefully this is a sign that he has figured out whatever was wrong with him earlier.

The defense continues to suck. I'm going to slap the next Lions fan who claims we have one of the best d-lines in the NFL. This line can't get to QBs, can't stop the run, and constantly fails to get off the field. The secondary has improved since Delmas returned but it's still a problem...

Russell Wilson looked good for long periods, but he also missed some pretty open guys. IMO Seattle could have been even more aggressive in the passing game

best game today by far is the miami/indy game.

the dolphins are a huge surprise this year.  reggie bush actually playing like his draft status, tannehil managing the game when he needs to, and a defense that's stout.  I really hope they snag a wild card this year

crazy stats and things so far:

-tillman for the bears: FOUR forced fumbles.  he has 7 on the year, and two TAINTS
-andrew luck has 400+ passing yards and is fucking insane on third down.  dude looks like ben on third down, but with a better arm
-reggie bush had one of the most madden-esque runs for a TD earlier

Lions are finished. It's time to fire Schwartz. Four years of no discipline and horribly stupid decisions on offense and defense is enough. Last year seems like it was a fluke: this is still the same old Lions
