Ugh, I'm aware that the screen color gamut of the XL is warmer than that of the original 3DS, but I ran into the *same* problem I had with with my original 3DS where the *upper* screen is a degree or two warmer than the lower screen. It's not bad until you run a game or an app that combines the two screen into one big vertical display (some DS games, Activity log, browser -- check GAF's mobile site for example). Then when you start scrolling the same white background between the two displays, it becomes noticeable and kinda distracting. I know for a fact it didn't happen to *all* original 3DS, as I've checked them first hand, so if there are XL devices that don't share the problem, I'm gonna take mine back because I'm *sick* of it.

Can anyone check their XLs?

I dunno, seems logical to me the system would need to be online to check that stuff. Lack of a proper account system sucks of course.

Let's not bring "logic" into this discussion, because yes, the logical thing to do was implement an (Nintendo club) account system in the first place and be done with this backwards, awkward method. I can never take their DD plans seriously until they do, and if rumors are to be believed, they will, BUT IT WOULD BE TOO LATE BY THEN!

Shaka- take following steps:

1. Make sure that the firmware is up to date on both systems and that each is plugged in or fully-charged.
2. Copy the contents of your 2GB 3DS SD card to the 4GB SD card that comes in the XL.
3. Put the 4GB card into the old 3DS and leave the XL empty.
4. Start the transfer process.
5. Press "OK" on 40 different menus.
6 Your shit will copy over.  It takes a while.
7. At the end you can take the 4GB card and put it into the XL.
8. Your original 3DS will be restored to factory settings.

Thanks. I'll do this tomorrow if the system is still there and un-formatted (:lol :'(). I was able to acquire the wifi pass of the neighboring restaurant, but only too late.

Mine is fine too.  Is the power-save mode on, Shaka?  You can check it in the screen brightness settings.

I haven't noticed any yellow tint, but I don't own an original 3DS to do a side-by-side comparison.

People are talking about this:

\

Which, AFAIK, is because the power-saving mode is enabled.  I think the system ships with it set to on by default.  Just disable it and no more pee yellow.

Here's rough picture. If that's how everyone's 3DS looks like then I'll STFU.

Oh, and there seems to be a white speck that I thought I could wipe, but now it appears to be under the screen. When the screen is on, it looks like a dead pixel. The GS reps basically told me to take it to Nintendo as they were "sold out of systems, we can't replace or show you one to compare." FML.

I'm doing the transfer at GS right now. I had to buy food from a restaurant before daring to ask about their wifi pass, and when I did they told me sorry the network is not for guests. So then I went to *another* restaurant and order something to get their pass. ^_^

Did I tell you how I had to buy a new charger for my old 3DS before trading it in? They couldn't sell my old weird looking one. The universe was giving me so many signs to not go through with this lol.

I read that the new speakers on XL are noticably "weaker" than the OG unit... and I would agree with them, the sound does feel low for being at max

Didn't seem weaker to me- the speakers are shitty on the regular 3DS too.

Yeah, it's been discussed on Ask Iwata if I'm not mistaking that they needed to go with different, smaller (and I'm guessing cheaper) speakers to make more room for the screen.

I've finally completed the transfer. I lost the wifi connection halfway through and when the OG 3DS tried to connect to the eShop it interrupted the whole process. It didn't give me a retry option or anything, just cancel out and start the whole process again. Nice error throwing, bro. It was fun to hard reset the XL while it was stuck on the transferring screen.

Okay, now that I'm done bitching I can start playing games.

Device feels real good in my hand, screen size is sweet, DS games are finally playable, not to mention the extra battery life. So far everything feels so good I can forgive the lower dpi and piss yellow screens. The circle pad and d-pad don't feel any different in size tbh though, any difference is so minute it's negligible. I traded in some PS3 games and got Kingdom Hearts instead of NSMB2 :rock

Hey dudes,

Does your 3DSeXL pull apart easily around the volume area? I can pull back the red shell with ease, but everywhere else is snug and doesnt pull back. I guess it doesnt bother me (maybe a clip broke or something?) but I am curious if your guys does it too.

he tends not to notice them on ps3.  59 fps on an xbox game and he'll screech bloody murder, variable 20-30 fps on ps3 and he'll say oh it's okay cuz motion blur or some shit.

it is funny how he blasted Gamecube and Xbox for poor visuals and yet he praised ps2 all the fucking time. Could dark10x be the biggest hypocrite of all time?
