Huh? The rest of the thread thinks shooting is fine and about on par or better than Red Dead. It also sounds like you both haven't turned off auto.

I'm using the second setting with aim assist cause I can't aim that tiny ass reticule properly with a controller. But it's also because the AI seems to be the same as GTA 4; just stay in cover and shoot niccas.

The auto aim is pretty terrible, so I turned on free aim. So much better. The only problem that even with complex, the reticule is hard to see. Like it's see through or something.

But I wouldn't say the gunplay is that great.

Isn't there a way to change the reticule? I heard there was.

Just go in the options and change the reticule from simple which is a dot to complex which is a cross-hair. It's bigger and easier to see.

The tiny details make the world that much more believable, like your GPS system turning off when you drive through a tunnel.  If only the AI weren't nuts, although that wouldn't be as fun.  I followed a plane as it landed to eventually steal it.  This dude steps out of the cockpit, walks right into the front propeller and gets chopped up.

And I had a strange encounter where
spoiler (click to show/hide)
a guy ran up and tazed me.  Thought Trevor would wake up in the hospital, but he woke up on the train tracks, naked, right as a train as coming.

There's stuff to spend on for sure, but for me it's a case of messing around in the world instead of doing main missions that pay the best.

you saw a 30k profit. You invest 100k and get 130k back when you sell. Its like owning anything else that appreciates in value. Its worth more but you see nothing unless you sell it. Unless you get dividends, but I don't think this game does that.

yeah, I play more erratically with Trevor than with the other two.  It's the animation differences and whatnot.  Trevor is much more violent stealing a car than Michael or Franklin are.  I think he might be Canadian, which would explain it.

One time while I driving around, these bikers rolled up and harassed Trevor for being an immigrant.  And then shot at me when I ran one of them off the road.  Racists  ::)

I was going to say that the reason why flying is so fun is because it feels a lot like flying a small, one-engine aircraft IRL,  super bumpy and scary with a lot of turbulence. I wonder if the more you fly, this smoother the ride is as you level up.

Trevor's plane skill starts high and it doesn't change much.  I tried borrowing a jet to see if that's different, but some dude in a tank shot me off it  :gloomy

so far the blimp is the fastest aircraft I've flown.  somewhat disappointed that you can't walk around in the blimp like you can in boats.

one thing I'm undecided on is how easily you can die in the game.  only place I found the parachute is on top of mt chiliad, right when you get off the lift.  I managed to not die riding down the mountain on a motorbike, but at the bottom I hit a small bump and get crushed under the weight of the bike  :'(

Where can I get a parachute, and is there any way to have a parachute always available?

use the lift (cost $15) at chiliad.

I'm gonna do the flight school and see if that unlocks the parachute in the stores.  Parachuting is one of the last lessons.

the hanger you buy is the smuggling one.  there should be another airstrip/hanger that saves your planes and helicopters.

flight school is unlocked a little later.  if you got to Trevor, I'm not far past you in the story.  I spent a long while offroading* with Trevor before I moved on.

Do all the heists directly tie to a stock market company?

Was the same for me. And a ton of it wasn't even straight gameplay. It was me fucking around with shit like tennis, golf, sidestuff, etc.

The game is a great validation of what a big budget game can be when you spend a shitload of money and resources and time. Its like the anti-assassin's creed 3. I actually get a little sad when I save and the completion percentage is higher than it was before.

And just to pull a completely random comparison. The original Bioshock came out a year before GTA 4. And I liked bioshock infinite. But it did not feel like a product that was that many years in the making. This does.

Also the first game in a while that just about everybody is playing on my friend's list.

So looking at the social club here are my stats. Although you have to keep in mind I'm a very slow game player in general and doubly so in an open world game.

Michael De Santa
Usage 31%

8 hours. 30 minutes. 24 seconds.

Franklin Clinton

Usage 30%

8 hours. 12 minutes.  8 seconds.

Trevor Phillips

Usage 39%

10 hours. 38 minutes. 10 seconds.

Overall Stats

Missions. 29/69
Strangers and Freaks 9/20
Misc 6/16
Hobbies and Pastimes 26/42
Random Events 10/14

Total Time 27:20:43
Game Completion %: 44.82
